Hi all!

I'm just curious where folks keep their knives. I'm trying to find a decent sized place to keep them that can be locked when little kids are around.

I'd like to have a proper gun locker, but we just don't have the room right now, so I was wondering what other folks on here do to safeguard their bladeware.

Thanks!

I keep a good many of my knives around me here at the desk, that I may enjoy them all the more.

Clearly not the best solution for the situation you describe, though. The gun locker would no doubt be easy to secure, but not super ideal for storing knives (it is a gun locker, afterall.) Depending on the size of your collection and if it consists more of folders than fixed blades, I would have to recommend a Pelican Pick & Pluck case. They can be made secure with a padlock, will fit in your closet or any number of other places that a gun locker wouldn't, will hold each and every knife in it both snug and secure and, if you are anything like a lot of us here, is easily expandable in the future to hold yet more knives. If memory serves, it's the model 1600 that I've seen used for this purpose a couple of times now.

in an old china cabinet with a huge door and light. all glass and wood. about 8 feet high and 3-4 feet wide.

Safe, locking cabinets, drawers, tupperware.

Depending on the size of your collection, you can buy a Plano tool box and slap a lock on it.

I bought a rolling tool box from Home depot. I found one that was scratch and dent, so I got it at a good bargain. It's large enough for a large collection and locks up nice. I had to find one with an actual lock, not the silly bars that are a pain.

Pelican cases are really good.

Craftsman tool chests. Lockable, affordable, expandable, and not easy for bad guys to carry off.

IF I were a burglar, I'd want everyone to keep their knives in Pelican cases, duffel bags, and tupperware bins. Something to keep in mind. ;)

I have two Gerstner oak machinist tool chests... the oak naturally controls moisture and the felt lined drawers are easy on the scales.

I have a nice small shelf I converted to a weapons display.
Knives go on top shelf

Need to attach some kind of door for when kids come over

I keep my knives in a drawer in my nightstand, with some of that nonslip shelf material to keep them in their place.

I'm with Bob on this one; briefcases and such that make for an easy getaway make me nervous... LOL. ;)

That's why mine are safely cached away in muh bunker away from prying eyes and sticky fingers. I've taken to displaying "decoy" knives as well; all the low end stuff, most is junk really as a deterrent for potential thieves. They can have have the junkers! I hope they break on em and cut their fingers. :D

A craftsman rolling and locking tool chest. You can get them in black, so they look ok in the house, and they have rubber drawer mats that keep the knives in place. Works great, with a big bottom drawer for boxes and sheaths. You can leave the wheels off and they are a bitch to steal!

My knives are in orignal boxes stored in large size aluminium tool box with foam padding and dividers - of course it's locked (two locks )

Mine go into a safe as well. I wrap them in light packing foam and keep a few desiccant bags around.

The ones I carry often go into a safer place when I don't have them on me, clipped to my 9MM holster:)
