Your new Sebbie!!! The 25th!!! **more pics**

+1.

It's a quality knife, no doubt. Very well built, and excellent fit-and-finish, to be sure. But it couldn't look any cheesier with those graphics. Then again, I think *all* of the computer-generated graphics on the sebenza's are really cheesy, so what do I know :p

I'll have to revisit again when it's released 'plain'. Still on the fence about the new handle shape.

Are the graphics going to be on the production models? When I first saw it, I assumed those were for the Blade Show models.

I wish Chris would have just beefed up the blade to add more belly - also increased the pivot diameter on the 21 - perfection!! The rest of it I'm not liking today. :(

Idaho made is still upside down and backwards

I am still undecided on the grooves and the large pivot. Dont know why, maybe I am just picky today.

So is this replacing the 21? We haven't heard about it being discontinued? I assumed this was an addition to the line, not a replacement, but....?

I just got home from Blade and had an amazing time. I spent quite a bit of time handling and drooling over the 25th Sebenza. I had my large 21 on me and was able to compare them side by side. The 25 feels like a different knife in the hand. Much beefier to hold and the added finger choil make it just feel different. The thicker blade stock in noticeable and it was very smooth to open and close. While I really liked the knife But all the small changes make it quite a different beast than a 21.

I will say that Anne Reeve was one of the nicest people I met at the show. She showed me and some other fellow CRK fans the 25th and took the time to point out all the additions and new features and answer all our questions. A real stand up lady. I also had a chance to meet and shake hands with Mr. Reeve and he was very nice and took the time to talk about the new knife and how excited they are about it. All in all I had a great time visiting the CRK booth.

One more thing. I overheard Anne(it could have been Heather too) telling someone who asked about the inlays not be,ing made anymore. She said they will still produce the 21 with inlays.

I wonder if the 25 would ever be made with a solid one piece inlay since the annuals are now gone.

Here's a quick Photoshop showing no graphics.

Thanks for the pic MVG!

Here's my take on the new 25:

The new blade style looks way sweet and it seems most are in agreement a more regular Sebenza styled blade is definitly desireable. I'm diggin' the new oversized pivot, the polished new shape lugs, the blade-stop bar, and the hande redesign w/ the exception of the extra finger groove. The jury is still out on that one as to whether it will create a hot-spot with prolonged usage. As funky as the proto graphics are, I think the blue-ano looks super cool and have been looking for some unique graphics with anodized indentations. Also totally dig the removal of that machinging hole where the lanyard goes or before it - looks cleaner on the 25.

Now for the things not so hot. Like many others, that pivot bushing will be sorely missed as is a staple of the Seb 21 and older cousins. Also, ditching the one-size-fits-all allen head takedown tool is a hard pill to swallow, UNLESS CRKs comes up with a duel headed hex key =). Not quite sure if the new jimping will feel too aggressive but the newer-style jimpling on the most recent Sebenza models I am really fancying. For example the new jimping is seen on most of the CF models recently released. Speaking of CF, I am really suprised no one has mentioned the new wieght of the 25 at about 5.7oz! That is a heavy sucker and one of the reasons why I love the CF sebs is because one can sport surf trunks or workout shorts with a large in the pocket and almost forget they are there. If that chart w/ the specs is correct, it will be quite a bit heavier than the beefy Umnumzaan. Also, from the size by size comparison photos most awesomely supplied by BBQ BOY, does it look like the new 25 is a bit longer in length handlewise? If so, I would count that as a negative as always felt the size of the large (handle and blade length) were darn near perfect.

The verdict: I think all the new additions and changes outweigh the negatives with the exception of the weight. If one likes a heavier knife then this could possibly put the 21 into retirement.

Thanks for the pics BBQ BOY

not sure yet if I like it completely, looks too tactical if confronted with the 21
probably only some handling will tell how good-bad it is

No bushing, no locating hole, I hope it still has the same tolerances, simplicity and perfection as the 21 (they've probably changed some steps/machining)

bushing is important IMO, to have a perfect knife in any occasion, no fondling (never took my ummi apart so I'm not sure)
ceramic ball is cool but I somehow preferred the normal lockbar (my ummi is holding well so it seems a good thing)
no rear screw on the stop pin, bad if you strip the front one...
different screws, ok it's fine if the pivot is larger (but it's less "clean" on the looks
not a fan of that huge non regular jimping, looks too tacticool
I preferred less belly as it's easier to sharpen and better on straight cuts

my 2 cent
waiting for additional info
