Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

My new Case Trapper in "Sea Dragon" scales came in, and it's flat out perfect. Just needs a good flushing and into the pocket she'll go.

Nothing quite like "you've got a package" and then standing over you as you open it.

I've made the habit of needing to duck into another room to "get a knife to open it".

I tell my GF that every package that comes to the house is a knife. Now, it's a running joke.

New refrigerator gets delivered: "That's just my new knife, honey! Big one this time!"

Expanding my collection a bit into brands I haven’t had the pleasure of owning yet. Newest additions are this Bulldog Brand and this Schrade Walden. I recently added the Fight’n Rooster which is just amazing. Question for the porch, how do Hen & Rooster compare? What about German Eye? Also Rigid made by Bulldog?

Also not sure what the steel is on these two below, I assume Carbon or maybe stainless, will have to try and research if it’s not on the box when delivered.

I really feel like this is the fun part of my collecting hobby, looking for things that just appeal to me and learning about brands I don’t know much about yet. Kind of growing fond of a Bulldog, Hen & Rooster, or Fight’n Rooster sowbelly in mother of pearl after grabbing a case peanut in pearl recently.

I got the basics, or the foundation if you will, when I started: Case Bose Collabs, some vintage Case and modern Case; GEC of course, A Wright & Sons; a few Northwoods, a Tuna Valley: two original Reese Bose $$$; and some other nice customs from K’roo; Chris Sharp $$; Mike Moran; Albers Cutlery; Ken Coats; Jack Davenport; Dr T; now recently adding a Camillus and a Schrade in addition to these below. I think I’ve gotten all the Case Bose Collabs, GEC’s and Northwoords I liked. Now it’s fun hunting for some vintage stuff or at least older stuff that catches my eye and in brands I don’t yet own and/or patterns I don’t have yet. For example, I have a rigging knife with a marlin spike expected in mail today from Schrade. Personally, I’ve tried not to double up on patterns from same manufacturer and also get variety in handle material and shields. I think I have a problem. πŸ˜‚

This forum has been very helpful in at least learning about them to know if they’re junk or not. Was glad I discovered the problem with celluloid before I bought one. I could only imagine putting that one of my storage cases with all the other knives and finding out later it destroyed itself and everything around it.

Nice knives, GusSharp68, unless the Bulldog has stamped STAINLESS or ROSTFREI then it is carbon steel, roughly 1075.
The Uncle Henry is stainless, and by all accounts they used 440A with a particularly good heat treatment. Inside the blade well, opposite the shield, should be a stamped serial number . . . what is yours? And, hard to tell from the photo, but is your box hinged or is the lid a separate piece?

Thank you Jeff, the serial number on the UH is 10322, haven’t received these yet, still waiting delivery so not sure about the hinged box or not. I do know the serial number as it was part of the listing.

Just noticed in the pic I posted the Schrade says stainless on the stamp. Derp!
