Ben Hogan made of various parts for this year's GEC Rendezvous. 1 of 6 apparently. It's a pretty big knife, but I really like it.

Very nice, I almost feel like those belong in the unappreciated knife thread, don't see too much of them around here, same with the makos. I really like the shield, I really wish GEC would use more than the same 4 shields over and over...

ah gorgeous, so they do do double bolster ben hogans

Only a very few, apparently. I think they should do a run with them. The double bolster helped sell this one to me.

I couldn't find a lot of reviews or comments on this model before I bought it. That shield pushed me over the edge. I wish there was more shield variety, as well. I'd really like to find one of the GEC 3" easy open jack knives with a sheepfoot blade and acorn shield. A #77 Yankee Jack with clip, secondary coping blade, and acorn shield would be great too, imo.

Actually, just this morning, the apostleP did a great YouTube review of the ben Hogan knives.

I believe the 2011 Northfield Clip and Spear Ben Hogans as well as the Tidioute Spears had end caps. Also the #65 Lockbacks like Jamie's above. I read that the clean up #65s offered at this year's rendezvous were made with 2011 blades, which you can see in Nickel Oak's pics.

The GEC Acorn shield has been used on knives under the GEC brand that have 1095 as the blade steel. The most recent H10s are examples of this. There have even been on a few SFOs in 420. So far, the only way to ensure a GEC is 440C is if it has "Cyclops Steel Works" or a variation of it like just "Cyclops" on the blade tang instead "Titusville Iron Works" or "TIW".

Thanks. I'll see if I can find it. I'm starting to think the acorn shield was/is only used on stainless GEC knives, by the way.
I have an h10 fixed blade with the acorn shield in 1095 but it certainly is the exception to the rule. I think you may be right about folders.

Mostly... There are #73s with the acorn shield and either 420 or 1095 steel blades. The Cyclops rule is still observed though. So far.

Stumbled upon this recently - NFS, but the person had a change of heart. Current status: inbound
(I'll update with my own picture in a few days)

Thanks, Mark. Really a fine knife mechanically as it is extremely smooth and locks up without so much as a wiggle. Of course the stag doesn't hurt either :p

My first barlow. Cleaning it up now. Not a huge barlow guy but this one grabbed my eye and I liked the bolster and covers.

The markings on the bolster look like your Barlow was made in Germany. Cool. The bone scales look really good.
