Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Love the swayback! The handles look like Ebony. Was this a special run by Case?
A swayback gent in G10 would be awesome

Yes, it is ebony. I don't see many, so I assume they were done in a small quantity. G10 and CV would be a cool combo.

duderubble Thanks for your comments, 2 great knives in a week is a lucky event.

Regards, Will

These arrived this week, both very different from each other but highly Traditional

GEC 38 Farmer/Lick Creek Ivory Bone. All carbon steel, that came from the Exchange

Renaud Aubry Laguiole 11cm Shadow Ebony with white spacers, filework and Sandvik.

Will - That is 2 fine ones there. I know how proud you must be of that Lick Creek Smooth Ivory Bone. As I recall on several occasions your comments on that model, and you like myself, being a fan of the Smooth Ivory Bone. :D:thumbup:

My mail call for the weekend consisted of these 3 lovelies. :D

I went by the px, there is a knife maker vendor there and I want to love his knives. Damascus blades, nice filework on the springs, but the fit and finish isn't there, some have no snap, others big gaps between bolsters and scales, one I almost was ready to take and then noticed a Crack in the smooth bone scale. So at lunch i went to an antique store and there's a vendor whose knives are always a little high in price but he had this beautiful trapper nut in smooth bone with scrolled bolsters, no box but the price wasn't totally out of line so it came home with me.

Better look at the scales and bolsters.

Ron Over the moon about that Ivory Lick Creek, cost a bit but I felt it was worth the coin. Those DLT Talons came out really nicely with the oak-leaf shield. Normally I don't go for a blue knife but that camel bone looks just right.

All the best, Will

Your shots really show off this lovely wood in all its glory. There's so much going on there, and it all complements the lines of the knife perfectly.

My newest addition is this 2012 Case 63090 SS Medium Stockman in old red pocket worn bone:

I think this is one of Case's most under-appreciated patterns. Being an equal-end makes it smooth and sleek in-pocket; it has fully sunk joints, which I always appreciate; the sheepsfoot rides lower than in most Case Stockman models I've seen, making for a comfortable grip; ditto the length, 3 3/8 inches, which lets me get all four fingers on there nicely; the clever, semi-hidden notch for accessing the spey blade is beautifully engineered; and at 1.9 oz., it's an easy carry.

Around this time last year, I fairly briefly owned two of them, one in deep canyon bone and one in honeycomb bone. I got rid of them both; the deep canyon was too girthy (jc57, if you happen across this post, you were right!), spoiling what's otherwise a very sleek knife, and the other just never spoke to me. But I found myself missing the pattern, and appreciating the subtleties of its engineering, so I spent some time researching the smoothest, most svelte options available.

I couldn't find one in smooth bone or synthetic that didn't feel garish, but pocket worn bone turns out to be just barely thicker than smooth bone/Delrin. It offers a pleasing amount of texture, while keeping the width slim and pocketable. I've seen Case's old red bone run the gamut from pale and pinkish to rich and red, but I hunted around for the latter. It came so sharp that I surprise-nicked myself a good one on the sheepsfoot while photographing it. :D

Lately I've been getting lucky with inexpensive little knives and this one's no exception.

At first glance it's just your standard little imperial Jack. 3", thin carbon steel clip blade, shell covers thanking you for your business blah blah. A nice handy little knife that you aren't afraid to get dirty. Oh but this has a secondary blade peeking out from behind.

Bam! It's got a screwdriving, cap popping, prying, scraping, pokey tool! :D  How sweet is that?!
I picked it up for cheap in unused condition. As far as I can tell it still had the factory "edge" on it and buffing compound in the joints. After much rinsing and oiling, it now has a stiff pull on the main maybe a 6 and a near nail busting 7.5 on the bottle opener. The screw driver head is small enough to fit in the philips head of your average drywall screw which is perfect for me. Down the line I might have the covers changed out for blackwood but not until the shell covers give out. It feels good in the hand as is and I'm starting to really like these little 3" knives.

Thanks! I agree about the depth and complexity to the wood. It's pretty awesome to think that this wood just sat around for 150 years, a victim of the industrial revolution, only to become beautiful and storied covers for pocketknives. When I read about the proposed Beagle covers I knew immediately which one my first would be. :)

That equal-end stockman is a real eyeful! The 090 is indeed an underappreciated pattern and the pocket worn bone looks really good on it. Thanks for showing us.

A new knife and coin today! An excellent example of a Gunscout and a Bigfoot Privy Silver Maple!

Whatever happened to the loonie? ;) :D

Goodness gracious! If the pics don't do justice, that knife must be stunning! :)

Thanks A.L. and zothar -- And thanks to Wonderboy1377S for offering her up in a PM, and having patience for me to check a bunch couch cushions!

Just got this Calf Roper Slim, Northfield 66. Really comfortable to hold knife with a single spring, a California clip main blade and cocobolo handles.
