Great! It's Alan, Ed. It's good to see such joy. As mentioned already ( I think). [emoji57] I can't wait!

Holy smokes, what GAW! That's a beauty. A 15 or 77 Barlow is on my short list. There's something very appealing about that shiny bolster contrast against the black covers.
Wow! That's a beauty and very generous GAW.
GT :I am very happy for you to finally get a GEC , especially a 77 Barlow which is one of my favorite patterns. I am sure you will enjoy having it my friend.

Harry
GT. Congratulations on that 77 my friend! It's a dandy!
Thanks for the kind words about the 77 Barlow, mb> & Alan & Harry & Ron. I appreciate your comments!

Very cool Dog's Head Ka-Bar-Lo, Todd! Goes well with your dog Barlow, too. ;) That's not the copper dog's head Barlow, right?
- GT

Thank you, Gary! And you're right. It's not the Copperhead Barlow. The Copperheads were made by Canal Street Cutlery before they closed. Root Beer jigged bone covers with copper pins, copper dog head shield and no stamp on the copper bolsters. I was fortunate enough to snag one at AG Russell's shop 6 months before CSC closed.

Huelsdonk provided the following information on my stag KA-BAR-LO afew pages back...
I did some additional looking. I found a thread about these from a few years back. It's here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1043923-Barlows-for-Dog-Lovers-Ka-Bar-Lo!!!. I'm going to quote forum member Hawaiianhawk below. Mine is in good shape but has some hallmarks of age. It seems like it's about 30 odd years old. Here goes:

"From the Kabar forum, courtesy of Paul Tsujimoto, senior engineer for Kabar:

The KA-BAR -LO was a tradional Barlow produced by KA-BAR. I don't have the exact dates but it was produced in the 1920s. KA-BAR produced the Barlow up to the 1970s.
The 1920s KA-BAR-LO came with black composite and smooth bone handles.During the later years that changed to Delrin. "KA-BAR-LO" was stamped transversely across the long front bolster.Of course the stamp changed from 'KA-BAR' to 'ka-bar'during the 1960s. There were two versions: a Spear point main blade and pen; and a Clip point main blade /pen combo. The Clip Bladeknife was designated with a 1/2.
In 1983 the KA-BAR Collectors Club Knife produced a Dog's Head Version in Stag with "KA-BAR-LO" stamped longitudinally on the Bolster. In 1985 a Dogs Head Version in Jigged Bone was produced; No stamping on the Bolster. In 1990 a bent Barlow was produced with a Clip MainBlade and Jigged Bone in Green and Blue. One had a dogs head, the other had an oval shield. No Stamping on the Bolster."

Thanks, obviously, to Hawk and Paul for the info. Hope quoting the post was okay.

Now about that Blackwood Northfield Barlow of yours... I'm very jealous! That was from the first run of Mike Latham's SFO. I got a frontier bone out of that run, only because all the Blackwoods were spoken for. It was my first GEC. That Blackwood though still makes my heart skip. Fine knife you've got there, Gary.

It's a genuine privilege to own these and to keep them well oiled for the next generation. Sincere thanks to all involved in their production.

Finally picked up my #73 jack at the post office today. The covers turned out a lot nicer than I expected, the pull shocked me, it's a bit harder than I'm used to. It's a knife for men for sure, I'll get used to it. It's hardly oiled, I'll have to take care of that tomorrow when I get home. The pen secondary is humongous, great tip on it.

I don't know, the bone seems to have shrunk a bit? Perhaps anyone knows, is Minnesota a rather dry area? The knife's been there for a few years, that could explain why. There's quite a gap between the liner and cover on one side, I can press the bone down with my finger. I hope it will swell up somewhat in the future.

Otherwise it's a fine knife, I think I'll carry and use it with delight. No pictures yet, it's afternoon already and the lighting is too bad for taking pictures, but I'll take some tomorrow.

Pulled these out of my mailbox at lunch time today! Gonna be a long afternoon waiting to play with these!

My spring green Stallion arrived today, and what a nice slim, light, perfectly sized pocket knife it is! The bone jigging has a great look and feel, and the domed pins are a very nice touch. It came decently sharp with a good thin grind, and has a firm pull (with half-stop) of around 6½. The blade is very well centered in the well, ever so slightly favoring the mark side, which should help eliminate blade-rub from careless opening. The only negative is extremely minor: when open the blade is just visibly below flush with the backspring. Highly recommended!

Ed, congrats on the Davison!!:thumbup: Those green liners are remarkable by themselves, not to mention every Davison knife I've seen posted here is perfect!
Thanks for the comments about the Northfield Barlow. :) Technically, it's the first LNIT GEC I've had, but not the very first GEC. I have a couple of wonderful gift GECs from a couple of BF members who modded the knives before gifting them to me. And Cory Hess once sent me a brand new GEC 25 just to CE and CF for a day; I told Cory it made me nervous, like when a buddy once got a new Porsche and tossed me the keys, and all I could do was sit in it without driving! :o
I still kind of feel that way about GECs - tough for me to actually put one in my pocket and carry/use it!! :o

Thanks for the additional info on your Ka-Bar-Lo, Todd. And thanks also for the kind words and moving story about the history of the 77 Barlow model I lucked into via JITDC's generosity.

Very Nice Clay!! I've been wondering about nifebrite? I don't know anything about it. Let us know how you like them both.

This isn't your first go around with that #14 if I recall. Curious what made you want to try it again?

A fine memory sir! This is my third of the #14. My first was the rust red bone, just didn't like the way it felt in my hand. 2nd was a micarta and I really liked it but I wasn't sure it would really see any pocket time and was just too nice to go in a drawer...but after playing around with my wife's nifebrite it grew on me so I thought I'd give it a try in a single blade for a slim watch pocket carry. Pretty sure third times a charm I really like this single.

Finally got a picture of this one today. It was a Christmas gift!
