Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

This also arrived yesterday. #613210. The color is "Midnight"

What I am finding interesting is the differences in bone dye. This knife has not a trace of lighter color showing through. Not even on the edges at the liners. Other dyed jigged and smooth bone I have shows light (bone) color through in some spots and the edges are completely bare of dye ie. like natural bone. Its as if the dye only absorbed a very shallow amount into the thickness. I wonder why? Is it intentional? Or, is it due to sanding and buffing?

That's a beautiful knife, Alan. I love the solid coloring of the bone. I'd be interested to see other examples of that knife to see if the coloring is consistent in all of them.

That's a good question John. I have only seen this one.

My T.A. Davison arrived in today's mail. ( I love getting the mail:p )

It is really a great piece of work. Coined liners front and back. Inside of the spring is filed. The pins and shield are so well finished, I can't even feel them. 3 3/4 closed. Ironwood covers. What looks like a slimmed area in the top down shot is actually just the small swell in the trough side of the frame. Came out looking strange in the top down picture.

I wish I could make better photos, but can't get outside today.

Thanks Daniel; Made by Todd Davison from Mississippi. Todd posts knives he makes on BF from time to time. This was a custom order I had him make for me.

Thanks my friend. You know what? It was worth it to get exactly what I wanted and have the satin hand finish blade and other metal parts. The coining and file work is great. You can't put a molecule of air in any of the joints. The pull is right down the middle. I don't know if you can see the taper in the grind just in front of the tang? That is a perfect radius.

It also makes me appreciate GEC's quality even more. This Davison is the first custom I have owned in a long time. It is a fine, fine piece of work. GEC's best examples are close. Not at this level, but close. Things like pin heads, grinds sometimes, little gaps at scale to bolster or funky shield mounting. These are real picky things. But, I see none of any of that on the Davison.

Well said on all accounts and couldn't agree more . It's like having a custom made suit to fit your taste [emoji106]

Found this Gerber / Sakai Silver Knight on a dealer's "back shelf" for a modest price. It's not in pristine condition, but the combination of blade shapes and configuration, plus the blade steel, made it a must.

It's cleaning up rather well. Action on the drop point is still a bit stiff, but it's working in. I'm not certain it had ever been sharpened, aside from the factory.

Jeff Tremendous find with that Queen in WCSB I think I prefer it over the later ACSB, mind you that is often really good too, as can be their sadly defunct Zebra. Been looking for a nice striped Zebra 26 for ages.;) I learn patience from my Cat, she can stare at Ratholes for hours even in -28c:eek::D

Thanks, Will
