Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Nice show going on here these last few days, from fantastic customs to ones back from the grave:thumbsup:

This is my first Bulldog. There's so much depth to this MOP you want to dive in.

That is a beauty, Tom. My daughter was just asking me today for a mother-of-pearl Texas toothpick for Christmas (got her hooked on traditionals now!).

A Sheepsfoot plus pen blade is my favorite combination. A Wharncliffe is almost as good.
The Case Sway Back Jack strikes me as Case's attempt at a top of the line fit and finish knife. It costs about half again as much as a one of their regular patterns, but the fit and finish is a significant step above that of a lot of their regular knives. Too bad all they are making these days is the "gent" single blade models.

Picked up this one in Tru-Sharp and Red Barnboard Crimson bone that has been languishing on a dealer's back pages for some time now. The dye job on the bone is imperfect, but the fit of the blades is superlative. Springs are flat in all three positions: closed, at half stop, and open. A keeper for sure, but the imperfect dye job brings it in just a bit below the fit and finish of my CV Sway Back, which is as perfect as any GEC I own.

Yes it is, but too bad they idiotically went and deleted what I thought was the most attractive version the Chestnut Bone cv Jack or the Greenbone Trusharp Jack both Bareheads. I used to have both, but gave them away assuming it would be easy to find replacements.... Wrong:(

Snap!
As we used to say when I was a kid for a Big coincidence!

New one for me yesterday.

Basically been unsure about these sway backs since I was pattern browsing in the spring, and one caught my eye. For me sheepsfoot and clip is the perfect combo, but wharncliffe is good too, and I can live with a pen. But the size was a touch smaller than I prefer.

Couldn't justify the cost on a maybe-- And as you say, the cost premium on TB patterns is really annoying! And I too really wanted the jack over the gent.

I'd been eyeing that crimson one for a while, pretty sure I know where you snagged it. Almost did it a couple times, but just couldn't swing the $.

Anyway, long story shorter, last week I found a good deal on this one, used but pretty damn minty at a low start bid auction, and snapped it up.

It's got about as much wear on it as I'd put on in a week or two of pocket time, just light scuffing of the shine. I'd swear it's wearing factory edges too!

Have to agree, fit and finish on these is fantastic, and all the details too. Longer spring tail to fill the secondary blade chanel, the light almost ghosted swedges, smooth half stops, sunk joints. Just wonderful.

Really wondering why I waited now, haha! Might even snap up one of the single blade gents sometime too.

Found some Bass Pro gift cards that I'd forgotten about...
Ran down there and bought a new CV Texas Jack. It's like finding a free knife :D

IT, John
Those are two superb Cases guys:thumbsup::thumbsup: I have a similar sway back in blue bone, an elegant knife. And that Texas Jack has really caught my fancy. Is it Bonestag or the real thing?

That knife has sooooooo much Bling . I hope you show much more and give more info about this one my friend . Congrats on the acquisition .

Thanks guys. I came across the Bulldog brand recently while surfing another site. The history of Bulldog is interesting. I'll get some more pics up soon. I suspect a toothpick in MOP will look quite good. Have you decided on a knife yet?

Not yet. Not sure if MOP is in the budget right now. She doesn't want a small toothpick: she wants the medium (Case has a medium that is 4 & 1/4" in green "Kyrinite" that she's been eyeballing for a few months). Don't blame her, I'm done with small knives myself! Got 6 children, two children-in-law, 2 grandchildren, etc. Lot of gifts to buy! But I'll keep my eye out.

By the way, earlier in your post you ask JohnDF JohnDF if the Texas Jack is bonestag. I bought my daughter a Case Texas Jack last month, and it is amber bone. Looks like John's pic.

UPS just dropped this one off. Tom Krein mini-bushcrafter. Some of the best looking ironwood burl I've ever seen and an A2 scandi grind blade that is as sharp as the dickens. 6 1/4" OAL and came with a nice leather belt sheath and a fire steel. Man I like this knife!
