Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

My wife no longer tries to buy me knives or tools  :) Not unlike me trying to buy her a nice outfit :(
She loves to have me along on her shopping trips for a consult but not receptive to surprises in the clothing department - not even a "nice" coat. ;)

Yes, exactly. I do not buy my wife clothes either... or shoes, or handbags, etc.
I'm outta my wheelhouse there.

One of two knives that arrived yesterday.

One of these, I am not sure which, is my latest addition. The other one I have had for about four years. It is a laminated Mora, possibly the last laminated model they offer.

Out of curiosity, I looked up my old order, for which I paid $41. The current vendor had the same knife listed for $115. No sooner had the sticker shock worn off than panic set in. Was this knife headed for extinction? Was it already out of production? Was the inflated price due to the knife’s rarity, or is the vendor just a price gouger? I am only 71 years old. I could easily use this knife up and find myself unable to replace it, at least at a reasonable cost.

A little investigation disclosed that the knife lists for $78 on the Morakniv site. A little more rooting around turned up an example for $49. I bought it. I am probably the victim of a hustle, but I should now have enough laminated Moras to last the rest of my life.

couple pens arrived today.
A Cornwall cutlery ca. 1900-1920's
and a Camillus , made in 1985 I guess.

The Cornwall brings with it the issues associated with Celluloid and the main blade is kind of limp, but it's got enough snap to stay open and took a razor edge so I reckon it's good enough for me to carry once in a while.

The Camillus is set to get a good deal of pocket time.

Dad gave me a few knives on my latest visit. This Case was in rough shape. The pen blade needed a good soaking before it would open. I don’t ever remember seeing it before and Dad didn’t know where it came from. It might have been his Dad’s knife. Grandpa always used a knife on the farm but I don’t ever remember paying attention to what it was.

Just arrived today! As a tribute to my first pocket knife (the USA 30OT below), I decided to hunt down an old USA made Old Timer in a more recently acquired favorite pattern, the Trapper. Definitely older than my first one and probably even older than me but is in excellent condition.

A couple of advertising knives from Dad too. My Mom’s step Dad drove dump truck for Dubuque Sand and Gravel for many years. He owned his own truck and had Looney Tunes characters painted on the doors and grill. He gave me one of these knives but I carried it in my hand so much I wore the writing off. I can’t read what the other little knife says but I know Dad had several like it from different companies.

I rember this old castration knife before it was broken. Never got any work on calves that I know of but who knows how Dad broke it?
