Sorry I missed you guys too. I had no idea that so many of us from the Traditionals forum were going. I'm not a member. I actually went to the show specifically because I am on Mike Alsdorf's waiting list. I knew he was going to be there so I went down to pick out a knife from his table instead of waiting a couple more months for my name to come up.

Just to stay on topic, here's what I came home with. As you might guess, my name is still on Mike's list. :D

Awesome ALOX, I didn't see those! I am not a member of the Club either, but agree with Railsplitter seems there are a few of us at least in the area.

A few new arrivals just today :)

Going to have this one worked on…Ebony, a new "shield", and the spear turned into a sheepfoot:

Mike's Gunstock is one of my favorites, a very attractive pattern. He builds an elegant knife.

Wow. Normally I don't care for most of Mike's offerings because they're not "traditional" enough for my tastes, but that one's a real looker. Nice choice.

Not new per se, but it's been a safe queen until now.

I decided to finally put her to use and sharpened her up a coupe of nights ago. She's real sharp now.

Inspired by G2. ;)

He does indeed. I had the pleasure of handling a few of Mike's Teardrop patterns at the show and one of his Doctor's knife patterns as well. I never really cared for the looks of his Doctor's knife but after handling one I'm thinking that I might have him make me a Doctor's knife when my name comes up.

Thank you, Christian.

I've owned quite a few of Mike's knives. His Peanut pattern is really nice, I have one in white pearl. It's a near copy of an old Keen Kutter with a squared off front bolster.

I'm really glad you were able to come the show. Mike Alsdorf is a super nice guy and will talk at length about knives and the knife making process. Nice knife you picked up too.

Picked this up this past weekend...

Picked up these two recently a Colonial and an Imperial

...

Not sure why and maybe someone can explain this....... why aren't Colonial and Imperial (And a few others) sort after as collectibles? Well certainly not as much as some others. (Case etc)
Sure these have a 'false' bolster but still are nice examples of knives from their era.

Very nice barlows, Brumby! :thumbup::thumbup:
I can't answer your question about Colonials and Imperials other than to say that those knives are very desirable to ME :) Part of the reason I like them is that they fit my budget (so I'm glad they're not hugely popular), and a bigger part of their appeal to me is that those are the kind of knives I grew up with.

Clutchcarter I thought you might like to see my version of the 56., even if it's not a new arrival! I'm a keen gardener and find a lot of use for this one. I prefer the smooth opening non half-stop.

Regards, Will
