Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Wow, nice covers.
Looks like a sheath is in order for that size.

Wowzers!

My latest is a #38 special in bocote. I really like this pattern. Great lines!
Only ding is the nail nick is quite small. Not much room for it because of the narrow blade I guess.
The bocote is really nice. Don

Thank you, Sir.

Chalk up another one for Mr. A.G. Russell. I bought this exact model in 2011 but I gave it away in a contest that same year when Mike Latham had a forum on his CKnet website. That was a good knife and this one is too.

A.G. Russell Curved Regular Jack. Wharncliffe variant. (There was a Spear blade variant too)

This Imperial (IKCO) boy’s knife arrived today. Looks like a previous owner might have used a pull-through sharpener once or twice, but that’s easily remedied. Other than that, this knife has no issues whatsoever. It’s still nice and tight, with great action.

There was a day when cheap, quality, US-made knives were a real thing.

Pinemoon Pinemoon - I like your Bocote # 38. Bocote is a favorite of mine - though I only have one.

I like your new Avatar too

Thanks Ray.
Bocote is a lovely wood. Like you, I've worked wood for many years, but never heard of bocote until I became a traditional knife-nut.
2019 is shaping up pretty good, knife-wise.

Thank you for the kind remarks. This one was from a special issue of four patterns, and 5 examples of each pattern, all handmade. This model is call the “Senator.” The Lambsfoot Blade is Swedish Damascus. The covers are vintage Sambar. The backspring has file work. It has nice weight and feels good in hand, but will still fit in the watch pocket of jeans.

I didn’t take to the Senator the first time I saw an image online, but once in my hand, I fell in love. It’s a real gem.

Thanks for the history and description - I think you have a real heirloom piece there with that knife. OH

I have no idea how old or really what pattern exactly but I don’t have many of the serpentine shape and this is just so thin and pocket friendly.

It is a little worn on the covers but the blades are full and walk and talk is very good.
Still need to clean it up and the blades seem to be stainless.

Picked this one up today at the flea market, big 'ol Klien. Good thing its got plenty of blade to grab as its got a strong pull! Its basically brand new. From comments by others I understand Utica still makes knives for Klien. Its definitely a simple no frills tough working blade.

Also picked up this Chinese Schrade 858, took some pics to compare it to the Case 6375 size wise. Good points: no gaps, solid action, stout springs but not difficult to open any blade. The bad: uneven edge grinds, as in kinda "wavy" rough finish on the tangs, you can still see where it was punched outta the sheet. Bad burr on the main. But its still a good "tool bag" knife IMO. Simple no frills worker. With a bit of time on a diamond stone the edges cleaned up nice. I've already been doing some mods, I've cut a swedge on the main, and reprofiled the ugly spey to more of a pen.
Here's the swedge I cut into the main. I think it gives a better appearance0415191010.jpg 0415191010a.jpg

The bottom one, the peasant I modified. I installed a back spacer of epoxy-hardened leather and a thicker stop pin, shortened the handle slightly. Finish is first oil, then beeswax.

I liked the peasant so much I ordered the mini version for EDC. Just a thought, I had the peasant before and made the mistake of shortening the tang. I carried it loose in my pocket and the long tang was a nuisance, or so I thought. I shortened it and realised that this was a mistake. The long tang is what makes this knife so usable and safe. It is proportioned just right to be used in a variety of grips.

Now I have a leather sheath that dangles suspended in my pocket. The long tang makes it actually easy to draw, especially with the lanyard or fob attached.

I was just selling a knife to make room for knives coming in and then I saw the beauty below on the Exchange for an unbelievable price. I’ve been wanting to try the Bolus clip, but was hesitant because of the size. On first impression it feels a lot like the size and width of a GEC bullnose 71. Looking forward to trying it out and seeing if it’s a keeper.

Have been out of the loop for a little while. Went into the hospital last week for a double hernia repair. Was hoping to come home the same day ... but you can never plan for everything! Ended up staying there for a tad longer than I wanted to. BUT, when I did return home (shortly before my birthday) ... received a WONDERFUL get well / happy birthday gift in the mail from a super thoughtful and generous BF friend. He knows I like smaller knives and sent me this one from his collection. It's a Steve Vanderkolff interframe slippy with some really nice mammoth tooth. The CPM 154 blade is right in my target range ... at 2.75". Will cherish this one forever! Not sure if it will help me recover sooner .... but it will make the journey far more enjoyable!!
