Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Well, after at least 2 months, this Laguiole de Aubrac arrived today. It was lost enough the seller couldn't track it, so he refunded my money. Now it showed up. I'm not sure if I'm going to "re-buy" it, or send it back. It's a nice looking knife, but the spring isn't as strong as I like... it does not snap shut, it has to be pushed closed. It's also bigger than I expected... at 10cm, the blade is 4" long. Either way, this is what came in the mail today....

I am as excited about this new acquisition as I have been about any knife for a long, long time. I found this on the secondary market, without tube, so I had to do a little research to figure out what it is. And undoubtedly, it is a 1 of only 6 made #421113LB in copperhead jig bone.

It does have a few very light handling marks, but has a beautiful action, solid lockup with no play, and the blade is perfectly centered. And as a further plus, I really like the Orleans shield. Yeah, baby . . . :D

Jeff, that is one beautiful knife! It didn’t even register in my brain that it was a GEC until I actually started reading your post; I thought it must’ve been from a custom maker!:thumbsup:

Thank you, Barrett. I've always thought the #72, #42, #83 frame design, especially in Northfield trim with the triple threaded bolster and long pull cllp, was GEC's most elegant.

I was searching for a Made in the USA, 3-1/2" (closed), Single Clip Point Blade, Serpentine Handle, Round Bolster, No Half Stop, Stainless Steel, Wonder Knife... all for under $30.00. I searched high and low for a long time, thinking such a knife didn't exist, when I finally ran across this beauty. It was a bonus that when I received it, it had GEC build quality, even grinds, no gaps, centered blade, smooth transitions, butter-smooth pull and strong 'snap'. This knife was put together correctly!!! The blade was listed as stainless, but I will be testing that out in the next few days. Very excited for this one...

Nice. Is there a model number on it?
Queen used a lot of stainless, so I'd say if it's stamped stainless, then it probably is.

no model number and no "stainless" stamp. Just the Queen Cut Co and Titusville Pa.

John that is a beautiful knife, I love single bladed knives in this range, great find.

Not quite so Jeff. It has had some sandpaper on the blades and some sharpening wear, but not too bad at all. I'm not complaining. :D

Today was a banner day, here in north Texas... I had three arrive... a Case 06247PEN, and a small Western fixed blade, 648B 3" long with delrin handles, and a stag 92 Eureka. I haven't taken pics of the 92 yet, but here is the Western, along with his "big" brother, 4" blade.. I think I'm ready, if I go bird hunting, and catch some trout in the process...:D

and here's the Case. It's a little bigger than I expected. The secondary, pen blade is also almost a nail breaker. I can open it, but I really have to want to. It had a lot of gunk down in the blade well, so I started flushing and working it, and it helped it a little bit. The main blade is good, no problems there, after flushing and oiling... just a heavy pull, probably a 7. The handles were listed as "dark bone".. the mark side has an apaloosa look to it, but the pile side is almost totally dark. This is a really nice feeling knife.
