Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

You have been growing that collection! You are going to love the B&S. Mine ebony is probably my most carried knife. It screams for weekend use. Make sure you flush it out really good.

Yeah I've been on a bit of a GEC purchasing spree lately! Going to take a break now and just get whatever I get lucky with on drops.

What does the flushing do for this knife? Mine wasn't gritty or anything, but I did notice it has much weaker springs than other GECs I have. I'd say the comb in particular has a 0.5 pull. Does flushing help with that?

Flushing it out just smooths out the action. Your pull on the comb will always be pretty weak, but it might help with the action. Mine improved a fair amount after flushing. I have been doing this with all my GEC's after the honeymoon phase is over and they are put into use.

Ok I see. What is the process for flushing? How do you do it, and what do you use?

Or, you can use any light machine oil (3 in 1, etc...) and put a few drops down into the frame at the pivot pins. Then, safely work the blades back and forth a bunch of times, letting the oil flush any debris out of the action of the knife. Metal dust from manufacturing, burrs that get worn in, etc... The oil will work through the pivots, and come out the bottom of the knife through the backspring area, usually pretty black. Repeat this until the oil no longer has any black color to it.

edit: you are "flushing" out the junk that makes a knife difficult or stiff to open... the change, even on good knives is usually pretty dramatic.

After swearing off buying anything new for awhile (yeah right huh?) this little Case gunstock called out "Pick me! Pick me!" from a display at a little pawnshop I stopped at earlier. They cut me a discount because its the display with no box or anything. Overall fit'n'finish is great, pull and snap on the main a tad weak though. But overall I'm liking it :thumbsup:

Decided to pull the trigger on a single blade Barlow before they were all gone from the shelves. The fact that it was on sale was also a deciding factor. It came with very good Fit and Finish and excellent action. The color is a little splotchy but I think I'm going to enjoy it a lot.

Sorry for the noise; I’m roasting coffee. I couldn’t resist trying this Zulu pattern even though it is Chinese made. Initial impression: very good quality for the price! A few gaps on the backspring but great action, good centering, smooth transitions, no blade play to speak of, and nice micarta scales. If I get some time I’ll post a fuller review.

I been looking at those Brother knives, particularly the Watchman. Hopefully work picks up soon and I'll order me one, thanks for your opinion you've convinced me their worth a try.

Scored these two in a trade! That's a lot of knife in both frames! The fit and finish on the 48 is outta this world!

Jackpot!!! Two beauties for sure, Taylor. The bloodwood 48's always catch my eye, so sleek and elegant looking. The conductor is a great pattern and the bone is also quite attractive. Congrats on two wise picks.
