Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

This arrived yesterday, difficult to get a shot as the day is dull. RR double lockback, single-spring in Armour Bone 3.25" Very neat and unusual knife, tangs are hidden under the bolsters, I'm well pleased!

This too arrived yesterday, Northfield Dixie Stockman in Blackwood. Fantastic snap on all 3 blades, no gaps no rub or play. The slim backspring is very impressive as the knife carries very slim and well with low riding blades. I realize most people enthuse over the SFOs but this knife really shows that GEC can do an exceptional knife even on a conventional run, and it makes a refreshing change. I'm not normally that keen on big knives but this one has all the advantages and none of the drawbacks.

It has a nice new script style tang-stamp too. Quite a good start to my birthday today:D except some workman turned up without warning to change the door locks...

Thanks, Will

Happy Birthday, Will!! Couple of splendid knives you received :thumbup:
What do you think of the "Armor Hide" covers on the Rough Rider? I have quite a few Rough Riders that I think highly of, but none have that kind of handle.

Happy birthday, Will! I've got one of those Armor Hide RRs in a medium stockman: very cool bone and super grippy.
That's an interesting double locker you showed. Sorry for the lousy pic, only one I've got and it's pouring right now.

An eclectic group arrived today ...

- Opinel No.6 Olive Wood: Not a hit, but tighter blade and ring than most Opinels I've owned

- Canal Street Cutlery Pinch Lockback Sunset Smooth Bone: VERY dirty and gritty. Had to clean twice with Break Free CLP. Blade not perfectly centered but not badly off. DP Hunter even tossed in an unrelated freebie from their Field-Tested Work-Gear line. Fit and finish not up to par with the highest quality GEC Northfield line. Better fit and finish than most GEC Tidioute offerings. Nicely balanced and best U.S. hand crafted knife I own at this price point.

- Mercator K55K: Dang that lock release is STIFF. Poor thumb. Good bevels but not sharp.

Many thanks for your kind greetings everybody:thumbup:

GT I really go for that Armour Bone series, as Jeff confirmed some grippy and complex stuff. The colours do vary, the small locking Barlow I have is black, this double lock more brown and I've heard it described as grey. Works very well though, worth a look.

Jeff Yes the script stamp is new, don't think I've seen it on other knives but somebody may know more. This Dixie is a major find.

Primble If I get locked out it won't be because of the locksmiths....:D:eek:

Thanks for the Armor Bone comments, Will. I may see if I can pick up a RR with that type of handles. Most of my Rough Riders are amber jigged bone, which is quite nice, but I picked up a RR copperhead at a gun show that has "gunstock checked brown bone" that I think is very nicely done.

I think my No.8 Oak Gardener I received today, just kicked all my other Opinels to the curb. I love the ergonomics and blade on this thing. While I have several more, I just included a Beechwood No.8 on top and Olive Wood No.6 beneath for comparison.
