A new Case Peanut just arrived...

This one arrived yesterday. My first lamb foot knife. It’s the large one with rosewood scales.

I carried it today doing some yard work. Initial impressions: My first thought was that it was bigger than I was expecting. I’m not sure why because I knew the dimensions, but I guess it’s hard for me to visualize. It’s a solid and well-made with a nice action and good snap opening and closing. The liners look tight against the spring, which is nice. Not sure if you can see light through them and don’t care enough to check. I’m not super picky and was not expecting a perfect knife, but it does have some finishing issues that I noticed. The bolsters are not shaped the same and there are a couple of corners on the rounded end that should have been rounded. The weirdest one is the grind lines by the tang. One is perpendicular to the blade and the other is at an angle. None of those things affect the function or my appreciation of the knife.

Overall it’s a nice knife and I’m very happy with it. I can see myself using it a lot. For less than $40 delivered I think it’s hard to beat. That was long-winded, but I’m excited to finally have a lamb foot, so I figured I’d sure my thoughts.

Ruhiger Sturm Ruhiger Sturm A welcome new resident to your stable. How do you feel about the single blade 14s v the 2 blade Jacks? I have some of both but don't carry them.

Regards, Will
Will,

That’s a tough call. I love carrying the single 14 for how small it is closed. I don’t even know it’s in my pocket until I need it. The blades are still large enough to handle most tasks I run into on the daily so no issues there. In hand the 2 blade handle gives a little more to hold on to which is nice. I usually prefer 2-3 blades in case you can’t get to a strop or sharpener right away.

I’ll have to carry and handle the 2 blade and get a better feel before I can say which one I prefer. Overall I do like both a lot.
Here’s a photo of the two I currently have.

All my A Wright built Lambsfoot knives have that same grind... every single one I've had.
I guess it's just the way they do it. It's not a real Lambsfoot unless the grinds are lopsided. 😆
That one surprised me. I thought it was pretty standard to try to match those on each side of the blade. I guess it just has to do with how they hold it when they switch sides. It still cuts. 😁

That Oakleaf Northfield ( a DMT knife I think?) is really beautiful in Smooth Bone and the shield inlet a masterpiece. Can't really get into using my 14s Clip or Spear but I certainly admire the look and finish on them plus the range of scales. Just wish they'd do a Shadow version with a blade at each end.

Yes, I thought it was kind of weird at first too.
But now I see it as just part of the uniqueness of the knife.
