I reckon 6 days old is an appropriate age to handle your first knife.

Wow that looks fantastic JohnVery generous @sf fanatic, the porch is a great place.I mentioned that I'd like to find a Case Tribal with a Barehead and in CV steel, but they are getting very hard to find.
In true Porch generous fashion, @sf fanatic reached out to me and sold me his at a very good price... I'm super happy with it.
it's a little big for me to carry it often, but I think it will be wonderful for fishing and camping duties... I really can't wait to try it out.

That looks like an extremely useful knife. I could definitely use one. I'm not going to hunt it down, but now that I know the pattern exists, I will be keeping my eye outThis one got to the Post Office on 1/29. I just picked it up this morning. A Victorinox Scientist. I've been looking for one of these ever since I became aware they existed. I have a couple of Waiters and Explorers that I intend to use as donor knives to make one, but haven't got around to it yet. And I've never disaasembled two knives to make one, so it remains to be seen how successful that endeavor will be. But I digress.
Its a little beat up. but all the parts are there and everything works. Even the ink pen. I think its been carried a lot, but used little. All the pretty ones I've found for sale were priced way beyond what I was willing to pay - hence the, thus far unrealized, Frankenstein Plan B.
I'm extremely pleased View attachment 1738771

It’s beautiful Jim, nice find, love mine too. Isn’t the action, especially to half stop fantastic?I've been looking to add a Eureka Jack for a while now, and was lucky to find this one. I think the Elderberry Jigged Bone is just beautiful. I see a lot of pocket time ahead for this one -- what a great pattern!
