Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

I have a few new ones, but I’ll post my favorite now and get to the other later.

It’s a new John Lloyd 3-3/4” mammoth Barlow in A2, bought from VCM3 (he sells these on his website). It is beautiful with smooth mammoth ivory covers, good feel in the hand, and sharp sharp Sharp! Vince threw in a suede leather slip, but otherwise no box or fancy stuff to go with a fancy knife.

The slipjoint is nice and flush, and pretty tight at the half-open and full-open. It just feels so special to hold, to open, and to close. Someone else wanted this knife first, but they did not appreciate covers that did not have texture on them, such as bone or stag.

This was posted in the Sarah Ladd engraving thread, with joking about having a mammoth engraved on the bolsters, maybe with gold tusks. That would be so cool, and if she ever wanted to take on the job, she already knows how to reach me.

I was very intrigued when I first saw this one, but I wanted to get it in hand before buying one. Stopped by the knife shop before heading to the bike race yesterday to check one out. I obviously liked it! 🤣
Very snappy, really well made, S35VN steel, brushed bolsters, my first 18, that’s a lot of boxes checked. Nicely done Case. 👍View attachment 1906605View attachment 1906604
I had seen that a few times while seeing if the peacock swell center had released yet or not. Quite interesting to see them using a “cool” blade steel

It is good to see cool steel. “A dealer” also recently started taking pre-orders for a run of knives with this steel and jigged buffalo horn covers. I ordered a Wharncliffe mini trapper. 😉👍

Just did the same, that should be a cool knife! Thanks for the heads up!

Your welcome, and I agree, the picture looks beautiful. It says October, I’m guessing late October maybe even early November based on how other pre-orders have gone. But, I’m in no hurry. 😉👍

Brand new Lloyd arrived yesterday- Stag, A-2 steel and a very interesting blade from the straight edge stable, a Foot but what sort? Not Sheepfoot, not Lamb Foot, nor ram. Goat? Deerfoot (the have a hoof I think...) Actually, it looks like a wing to me, Gull Wing ? Supersharp of course, half-stop, thick matched Stag, 3 3/8" - 8.5cm GEM!

No matter what " foot" it has, that's a beauty.

Old School Barlow like I used to have back in the "Old Timey Days" View attachment 1917837

Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Schimberg Co. Pipe, Valves, and Fittings. (still in business, but they have a different phone number now.)
Colonial made a good knife back in the day. Nice score. 👍
