Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

A group of old knives from the big auction site. Got a great deal on the lot and I'm going to re-cover most of them.

The Colonial Barlows have solid bolsters that appear to be riveted to the liners. The pivot pin does not appear to go through the bolsters. I think I'm going to just remove the back pins when I put on the new covers.

The Western in the middle needs some work on the blades, but I'll probably leave the covers alone. The Buck needs some serious blade reshaping and new covers. The Robeson at the bottom is is OK shape, but is celluloid, so I have it quarantined and wrapped in plastic until I get around to it.

I got this at a flea market so I've been cleaning it up today with some oil.
It's an old Remington , has a split back like a whittler. The punch has a sharp edge ( maybe for wood working ?)
If anyone knows anything about these, feel free to comment :)

I recently finally got to meet my brother from another mother (literally... we have the same biological father). I've been in touch with him for the past several years, but never got to make the trip over to Mississippi to visit. He happens to be into guns and knives, just like I am... nurture vs nature? 😂Before we left, he gave me several pocket knives... he has literally 7 or 8 cowboy-hat-sized boxes full of them... he is particularly attracted to 4 blade congress knives, and Case seahorse whittlers.. he probably has 30 or 40 of those, including 3 (!) stag versions... 🤤 He also apparently likes Bokers and Henckels..
Anyway... the two I'm carrying today are gifts from my brother... I'll post pics of the others soon. The Henckels stag barlow, stainless... and the Boker Tree Brand half whittler in stainless and Thuya wood.

Replying to my first installment of knives my brother gave me... these two are the next.... one of the 4 blade congress knives that he seems to prefer... there were two brand new Henckels, and he tossed me one of them and said one for you and one for me.... he gave me the green one, and he took the red one. Also, the Case seahorse whittler.... the first one he handed me. I think it's cayenne bone, but I'm not certain. This one has the distinction of being the sharpest Case knife I've ever opened. The factory grinds were actually pretty evenly done, and all three blades were sharp-sharp....

Well, she came today. 2014 Case/Carhartt single blade Sowbelly. I’ve been looking for a single blade for a while. Figured since I wear a Carhartt Henley just about every day it made sense. Fit and finish is good except the blade is not centered but doesn’t rub and I’m working on that. I really like the G10 handles with both smooth and textured finish. 😃

New to me GEC 86 Oil Field Jack in Sucker Rod Wood and a Jack Wolf Knives Midnight Jack in OD Green Micarta. I had a couple of LionSteel knives but those never stuck around so I was hesitant to pick up something from JWK. Found this Midnight Jack at retail and in my preferred handle material so I decided to give it a try. First impressions are that it's really nice and feels much more solid compared to the LionSteel knives. The edges are a little sharp with this coffin style handle and you can feel it with a pinch grip but it isn't noticeable with a hammer grip. That being said, the shape of the handle is what drew me to this knife. There are a ton of reviews on this knife so I won't go on.

This curly maple muskrat arrived today, great fit and finish, perfectly flush both blades open and closed, wood is great. Springs pretty weak but I'm pretty OK with that on a thin knife with two blades. Speaking of which they're super thin, 0.05" at the spine, significantly thinner and narrower than my GEC possum skinner. Small amount of blade rap on pile side blade that I think will resolve after a good sharpening. Quite happy!

Edit: Had it sharpened on my lunch break and the blade rap is resolved
