Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

....WHAT.

That is gorgeous material, I am definitely going to need one of those. Simply outstanding.

Thanks! Yea, I was just spending too much time on the internet looking at knives as usual and happened to stumble across them, but as soon as I saw them I knew it was gonna have to be an instant pickup. I had never heard of Dichrolam before, but watching a few videos it seems like an interesting material.

I ordered this one from the Official Website, and it showed up yesterday. My oldest grandson (6 Years old) just joined the Cub Scouts. I checked with my son and DIL before ordering, to make sure they were OK with it. I wish I could gift him my Cub Scout knife, Camillus made in the late '50s. I might still find it, but it'll take some looking. My mom was a den mother, good memories...
I haven't opened it, so I'll report on it after I give it to him, and have a chance to inspect it.

My daughter (age 8.5) has the same model of Cub Scout knife, and it is her favorite. She also has an older US made Girl Scout knife (and really her own small collection of knives). She prefers the Cub Scout to all the others. She used to have a US made Scout knife that she traded during one of my GAWs for the Cub Scout. The bright blue scales and locking awl are real kid pleasers.

Thanks guys! I'm sure he'll be pleased! I haven't let him peek in my knife cabinet.... Yet, but he shows an interest in what knife is in my pocket!

There just seems something wrong about official Boy/Girl Scout knives made in China. :(

(((sigh))) ... and in the US, too ... Scouting did start in ... was it England or Germany? around 1900, if I remember right.
The US Scouting movement didn't start until 1910/1911 (first scout manual was in 1911). All the Scout knives should be made where Scouting got its start. 🙄
(sarcasm is so difficult to convey in written words.)

Where ever they are made,or by who, they are made to whatever specifications and quality standards the Scout Commission sets. 🙄

You should be glad that scouting still allows members to even have a knife at the meetings.

Boker Stockman pattern (single blade) in copper/burlap . This was a dealer exclusive from the big knife pusher in TN. The Stockman and the Barlow caught my eye immediately when I pulled the catalog out of the mailbox, but when I went to snag one they were already out of stock. I kept checking back (not obsessively or anything if that's what you're thinking ;)) until finally the Stockman became available again. Definitely pleased with the purchase.

I bought a cane at an antique mall that was made in China. I said, "Ooh, 'fabrique en Chin!' It must be from France!".
But they didn't get it.
Or it wasn't funny.

Great looking knife! It caught my eye as well in the catalog. What is the pull strength/walk and talk like for this one?

Thanks! I'm not the most knowledgeable, but I'll answer the best I can. The pull strength is what I would consider about ideal, definitely on the firm side though (6-7??). As for the walk and talk: it is smooth, but judging it next to my GEC's it could be smoother. Very nice strong snap though. No half-stop.
