Sharp looking 110!!!!!

The brown truck has just brought my order!!! Well, the first impressions: I'm loving it! But I received a bit not the knife I ordered... I wanted a 110 with BG-42, Pete agreed to replace S30V from my order with BG-42. But when I opened the box, the blade was S30V... Well, I don't know if I should be upset: it also has no the sign "Buck Custom", just Buck USA (plus the symbol of 2007), and, on the other side there is no sign (which I don't like) "Designer's Choice"... BUT, there is Paul Bos' stamp + S30V. The blade is satin, NS bolsters, smooth buffalo horn (I like the way the handle is made VERY much), rivets. I don't really know, what's better, to have a BG-42 blade with "Designer's Choice" sign, or a S30V with Paul Bos stamp O_o. I like the knife very much, this is my first CS110!:) I'd love to share some pics, but I'm a registered user here, I can't post pics...

If I bought a knife from the Custom Shoppe and it did not have "Custom" stamped on it, I'd unbuy it damned quick.

Custom should say Custom......and that's all I have to say about that. Otherwise......how do we know the Custom Shoppe made the knife and not some fly-by-night aftermarket guy who got hold of a Buck blade?

Seems to me you have nothing on the knife to tie it to the Custom Shoppe.

Sharp looking 110!!!!!

Thank you very much for posting the pics, Bear Claw!:)
Yeah, I will think of becoming a gold member!

And the blade is really sharp! I've never seen a factory grind like this one! It cuts cigarette paper very easily and smoothly... I will not resharpen it, I hope, I'll be able to achieve such sharpness when it gets dull!

Yeah, I'd prefer the stamp Buck Custom, but in the other thread (Photos of CS 110) the other member shares pics of his CS110 with NS bolsters, KOA flame wood and S30V. It (the blade) looks exactly the same as mine... And on the Certificate of Authenticity there are standard words about Custom Bucks... I don't know, I really love the knife and I will use it:) All this story makes me thinking of ordering another CS110 with BG-42 and, maybe ram horn, but I'm not sure if I will not get S30V again O_o

I REALLY like the Olde English type stamp. Here are a few BG-42's with the stamp I'm yakking about.

These are at least a few years old (that's why I like dates). So dunno know if the current BG-42 knives have the same tang stamp.

Can anyone that gets a recent BG-42 from this recent buying frenzy report back if the stamping has changed?

Certificates of Authenticity are just paper. I like to have something on the knife itself that ties it to the Custom Shoppe......and you don't have it.

Seems odd and I wouldn't accept it, myself. I always consider resale value. It could be that, many years down the road, that lack of a stamp could make a difference. Or not.....hard to tell.

Oh, yeah, I understand you! But I'm not gonna resell the knife! I don't want to keep it on the shelf either... I will use it, and I'll use it properly, for sure. If I ordered something more expensive, like sambar stag and Damascus, I'd be worried more about stamps... But I guess I can hardly notice the difference bw S30V and BG-42 in use:) And I like Bos personal stamp more than "Designer's choice" :) At least I'm satisfied, thanks, Buck! But still I want some BG-42 and maybe some other handle inlays, but I don't know what else to do to get it O_o If I order it, it'll be a collector's item, I'll make my best to be sure of using BG-42, maybe I'll phone 'em every day:))))))

I don't think the factory actually sits right in a town does it, or out near I-90?
Post Falls is actually quite a rapidly growing town. It sits about five miles from the Idaho/Washington State line on I-90. With Washington taxes and the sprawl around Spokane what it is, Post Falls is seen as an afordable alternative. As Dave has pointed out the factory is just south of the I-90 interchange by about 1/2 mile.

Geez Roc, at the risk of starting another "rant" like we had a few days ago, I'm gonna tell you that you that your constant posts regarding the current custom shop production, and especially the stampings on the blades are getting really old, at least to me. I'm sure the folks at Buck have read your concerns, which they may or may not elect to address in the future. No one is forcing you to order any custom shop knife, so if you don't like what you is being offered, you are certainly free to take your business elsewhere. There, I've vented, and I feel a bunch better.

I was going to order another CS 110 in BG-42 as well. I was also told that I should just pay for the S30V online and call pete and he would make the swap... I haven't yet because I was concerned that this would happen.
Now I am glad I waited ;) I will order whe nthe website reflects that BG is in stock. BTW, there aint nothing wrong with S30V ;) Its really good stuff!

Well I just checked my CS knives. One ATS34 W/DC on back, one BG-42 W/DC on back, one dammy W/DC on back, and two more Dammy blades with nothing on the back :). I bought these knives and I know where they came from....it don't need to have DC stamped on it to know who made it and where it came from....in fact I don't like the DC stamp. To each his own.

Don't worry about brother Roc; as we all know he likes to talk. However, we don't have to agree with him...but, he has very good intuition and instincts. I once flamed him about his thoughts and he was so right and I was soooo wrong. No need to argue back and forth guys. This is a public forum and everyone is entitled to post their thoughts. Just skip the ones that get old ;). Hell, no one pays any attention to me any more....LOL.

Oh, goodness......all I did was say I wouldn't accept a Custom Shoppe knife unless it was marked with a stamp that identified it as coming from the Custom Shoppe.

Others don't mind the lack of a Custom stamp.....so? That's their decision.

There's no argument.

:)

Or your widow might.

Or your kids might.

Or their kids might.

That's really the only reason I keep an eye on resale value......'cause eventually........it WILL be sold.

...Hey aqtaket...When UPS delivered yer knife did they ring yer bell or just throw it up against the door???...They've been known to do that down here in Florida...ALMOST EVERY DARN* ( *edited for kids...:p ) TIME they deliver...:grumpy:...:barf:...:D

My UPS guy hits my door once, then drops the package next to the door and walks away. He's usually in his truck before I can even get to the door. If no one is home, he leaves it right out in plain view against the door. :thumbdn:

...I don't believe I've ever had UPS even bother to ring or knock...They literally either leave it at the door or toss it into the entry area...I've complained numerous times but my complaints have never been addressed by UPS in any way...The surgery center I work at has even dropped them...:thumbdn:

They just knocked on my door, as I don't have a bell:) I'm constantly receiving UPS packages and I like UPS, I can always track my packages:))) I have good neighbors, so I don't worry about my being home at the delivery moment:)
