Some people customize their knives and rigs for survival purposes such as attaching pouches to the sheath for survival equipment. Others even go as far as designing and making their own survival knife sheaths and altering the blade itself. Share with others how you prefer to carry your knife into the wild and what customizing you did to accomplish your goals for a better knife.

I carry a Busse Fusion Battle Mistress, I have a small canvas belt bag that goes with it. in it, I carry a blastmatch, 550 cord, small India sharpening stone,Inova X1 & xtra battery, bandaids, first aid salve, small pocket pancho!

Haven't really done anything to the knives, but as far as carrying them, I prefer to attach them to my shoulder pack.

This is my new Gerber Steadfast that I plan to field test this coming Monday. I'm off for Labor Day and I am going to play in the woods. I like to attach a small survival kit to the sheath if the sheath doesn't have a pouch I also rig a backup knife to my lumbar or backpack.

i typically just carry whatever folder i'm feelin on that particular day. sometimes a fixed blade on the back of my belt beside the gerber multitool.

I had previously been using my Mora 780 for general woods duty, and had attached a handy pouch to the sheath containing a ceramic rod, LED, magnesium bar, and a whistle. This was a nice little setup, but my Tora sees the most woods use now.

I eventually got tired of lashing stuff to every single piece of gear I own, and just tried to streamline things. Simple gear like a knife was suddenly cumbersome. About the only thing I have now that's got a 'kit' attached is my hatchet.

I don't mind the bulky sheath since it's going to mainly be in my pack, not on my belt or in my hands. But if I've got this out, I may be straying far from camp to get wood/etc.. This means theres a higher chance that I'll be left with just this compared to other implements.

Overall, I think my Favorite knife is my BK7. I take advantage of the sheath puch, it holds a Vic Rucksack and a Mag/ferro bar and sharpener. Can take care of everything.

Usually an F1 in a chest sheath and a SAK hiker in my pack (along with a large chopper type knife)

Need to mention I just got a couple of rats...RAT 7 and RAT 3...and I almost forgot that I just put a handle on a Marbles Special Hunter Blank (52-100 steel, 4" blade length, 1/4 thick - bought on Ebay) will use them this week end...usually carry my stuff in a shoulder bag

The Urban Jungle of South Florida requires a different survival knife than what most of you would consider standard on this forum.
The main goal of this blade is retention of my primary pistol.
I've modified the kydex sheath by changing the Tec-loc to a loop allowing
IWB In waist band carry.
It's carried on the weak hand side, has a 6 inch double edged blade and is 1/8 inch thick.
This is a custom made Persian fighter. It has a Persian style blade with a Bob Kasper type grip.

My Busse ST Ripper sans-coating and with new slabs. I don't like coating on blades. I carry it in a Spec-Ops brand Combat Master sheath. (contents of pouch vary depending on situation.)

My Busse Badger Attack LE has had the slabs modified. (Smoothed and contoured with orbital sander.) It is now in my rotation, and the most comfortable knife I have ever owned.
