Your real survival knife

In my pack is either a Mora 2000 or 510. Those are in a day pack, but there is always a Vic Farmer in my pocket. I'd feel fine with any of them.

If I were to loose my backpack, the knife that would be with me is the Leatherman Charge TTi with a lighter added in its sheath. So, that would propably be my "real survival knife" :) I usually have a PSK on my belt while in the woods, and I have a small Gerber Gator in it, but since it's not *always* on my belt, I assuming that mr. Murphy wouldn't let me keep it in a real situation.

If I happened to found myself in a survival situation with only my EDC, then I would also have (in addition to the Charge) a Spyderco Crickett. That would actually be an interesting exercise... to spend a night in the woods with only my on-person EDC, without a bag of any kind. The Crickett is one helluva knife for urban environment, but I think with it's 2" blade its as far from a traditional survival knife as possible :)

Well, I don't own any "rambo" knives, I think they're silly. These days, my always carry hiking knife is one of my two Fallkniven F1's. It's perfect for my needs. I also always have a Gerber pruning saw that weighs a few ounces.

If I had my truck with me in the situation, I would have 5 knives at my disposal, but those that I would have on me when I put my pants on are a Camillus WWII era US Army issue utility pocket knife, a Victorinox OHT-German issue style and a Gerber Clutch keychain/pocket multitool.

On my person at work lately has been, a Mini North Star, Leatherman Wave and a Case Sodbuster Jr. in CV. I can't seem to go wrong with this combo.! M

If I had to pick just one, my new dumpster mutt. It's not the best slicer, but it shaves easily and built like the hulk.

Here it is next to a bravo-1 (not mines).

I have enjoyed reading this thread and seeing what you all carry. Thanks for posting. I do switch around some but my usual edc combo is a 2 to 4 layer sak and a full sized trapper. After trying lots of knives and tools those are the ones that work the best for me.

On a day hike w/ the family, I'd have a small fb like my RC-3 or maybe one of my barkies, old Gerber multi-tool, and an sak classic on my person. Daypack or Max. shoulder bag would have redundant items, and probably larger fb and chopper or hawk. Of course my wife says I could live comfortably for a month or so with what i carry on a daily basis. I've always believed that knowledge and preparedness is important. But between boy scouts and the service you pick up a few things.;-)

I alwayts have on me either an R-10 from H.I. or their JKM-1 and a folder with a 4 inch blade. If in the woods I generaly am carrying my M-43 kukri on my belt. Ive always got an SOG Powerplier on my belt as well.

I always have my Vic Farmer, Leatherman Wave and eithe my Bnchmade 551 or Kershaw RAM. I have my kit in my vehicle at all times with my RAT 5.

Right now, I ALWAYS have my Busse HHFSH with me in the field. On the sheath is a pouch with all the fire makin stuff I could need.

+1 for the Steel Heart:

Don't usually have the Silky Saw (black pouch in front) on the sheath, but everything traipses around with me
in the field, and EDC in my "Murse" elsewhere (work, town, etc.).

I'd feel neekid without it  !!

River-8, what's in the puch on the left of the sheath? Shoot, what's the whole setup consist of? And who moded your SH?

River-8.....I'm gonna need something like that for my incoming SARSquatch. Can you do that?......shoot me a PM Please :D

As for the knife that I have on me daily......that would be the Kershaw JYD2

Cerberus

I always have a clip lockback and a slipjoint, no matter where I am (airports excluded). If I'm in the woods, I'll always have a good fixed blade on my belt, so no worries about not having one. It can be a SR Bandicoot, or Fehrman Peacemaker, CS Recon Scout, or Busse SH-E, my usual rotation.

One knife that I'd absolutely have with me is that in my Swiss Multitool. It's always on my belt. Other than that, I need a new folder (current is a CRKT Kasper) and fixed blade (current is Camillus/Ontario Kabar). Plans are for a Benchmade folder and a Fehrman fixed blade. And yes, I would love a Busse, a Bark River, and on and on and on and ....

Does that Bravo-1 have a bevel on it's edge?

Right now, my EDC is a Glock 19 :D, an Emerson CQC-8 (and when I carry my MaxP, a CRKT Crawford necker, and a Surefire E2D. I know...the crawford is wack.)

Very soon, though, I will have my Tiger Warden and Leatherman back, and that will make my everyday survival knives (when school is out) my CQC-8, my TigerWarden, and my Leatherman Charge.

I'm still tryna figure out what will work best as far as carry, though. Any suggestions?

Well out of knives i always have on me it would be either a ZT-300 or ZT-500 if i am hiking My HI boomerang maybe or a RC-4 or Ratmandu
