Your smallest knife/knives?

I dunno what it's called, but this little SOG has been on my keychain since 1991.... 13 years.

That's the one with some kind of quick-release lanyard thing, right? How does that work? Or am I thinking of another knife?

You are right. The Spitfire has the quick-release lanyard. When the blade is closed you can push on the back of the blade and the blade moves a little bit into the handle . This causes a 'little hook' at the back of the knife to move back and the layard can be removed very easily. I can post a few pics if you are interested in what exactly it looks like. It's a great little knife b.t.w. It was pretty expensive over here, but I never regretted buying it.

Hi All,

How about the Buck Metro? The knife itself it not particularly small - but that blade! - about 30mm

Damn! Not a gold member, can't load picture. Anyway, my smallest knife is a standard single bladed folder with a blade 3/4" and an overall length of 2.5" when open. It's not big enough that I can use it to cut stuff, but it would serve well as the EDC of a pixie or some other small fairy-tale creature. I have no idea who made it, but it has "U.S.A." stamped on the blade. It is an interesting conversation piece.

My smallest so far: BM 335 in D2 and Titanium. 2.3" blade, 5.7" overall.

Soon, my smallest will be a Simonich Bitteroot in S30V.

If it's not a lot of trouble for you, I'd definitely appreciate being able to see pics of that. I've never really been able to picture in my mind how it works from the descriptions on dealers' sites. Your description of it made it easier to understand, though.

Has anyone ever seel an Opinel #1 ? They aren't made anymore. They are so small you can put one in each nostril.

on the subject of Opinels....I have always wanted one of these:

I'm not sure I want to know how you know that. :)

The smallest knife i have is a little folder that i inherited from my grandfather. It's an old cowboy character knife. The blade is 1.5in. the knife is 3.5in. OAL. It has silver bolsters, and orange handles with "Hopalong Cassidy" on one handle and a picture of him sitting on his horse on the other.

Smallest fixed blades: A Busse Assault Shaker 1/4" & a Lynn Griffith Cub
Smallest folders: Probably either the very small Victorinox or SAK keychain knife I have (single blade, file, and scissors), or the Leatherman Squirt(P4?) in the OnScene Tactical kydex keychain sheath.

A late reply, but here are two pictures. You can see what happens when the blade is pushed into the handle. I hope the pictures are useful. It's a great little knife. I was sorry to hear though that the Schrade factory closed down. :(

(the pictures are not mine, they are from German knife magazine 'Messer Magazin')

Leatherman Micra is probably the most useful one...then, my 34OT ain't that big either.

The Liten Profiglenkniv isn't that small, but it's blade is definitely on the small side, and it's an amazingly useful knife.

My smallest is a 1 1/4" folder that is really just an ornament on the end of my dress watch chain, but I haven't worn the thing in about 10 years and it isn't really suitable for use other than maybe cutting a loose thread on the suit I also have not worn in about 10 years (I wonder if it still fits).

The smallest "real" knife I have is a Spyderco Kiwi and I carry it 5 days a week to my office job. It's very nearly too small for one handed opening with my large clumsy hands but, once open, it "plays" a lot larger due to the two deep choils and thick blade that supports my thumb placement. I frequently rest the pad of my thumb over the "hump" - covering 3/4 or more of the blade. It's the only knife I grasp in that manner.
