Your thoughts on the GEC #55 Hound Tooth???

Have to agree on all fronts Greg. Once you get the hang of it one handed closing is easy, just takes a little faith lol. I carry mine all the time, great edc for sure.

This thread needs more pics :D

"Faith" in the half stop and balls of steel:D you take great pics that highlight the warm autumnal glow of those scales.

Lol :D

It is hard to capture the scale colors well. It truly changes every which way you look at it. GEC's autumn bone is absolutly my favorite. Appreciate the kind words my friend.

Just received this knife a couple days ago. I love it, but I am finding it a bit tough to open up. Maybe my nails arent big/strong enough but it feels fairly stiff. Will this loosen up over time and opening it a bunch?

Find maximum spring extension (somewhere between half stop and open) and leave it there for four or five days. Took mine from an 8 to a 6+ pull (just right).

This, plus half the time, if my fingers or the blade isn't too slippery, I can just pinch the blade to open it. Even if the pull is heavy, its pretty eady to open that way.

Thanks for the advice. I left it over night open between half stop and open. It already feels a bit loser, or my morning coffee makes me feel strong like bull!! Great little knife that will go great in my briefcase :D

I have one. Quite possibly the sharpest traditonal I own. Dont know what circumstances allowed me to get it this sharp but its scary sharp. It has very very strong springs. Not hard to open but from half stop to open is very crisp shall we say.:)

That is a REALLY nice looking knife. One of those is going on my Christmas wish list ASAP.

Got exactly the same knife myself. I can tell you it's a very tidy choice with superb in hand feel, THE Wharncliffe to have. Just wish they'd do a Barehead version soon.

Realizing that Case does sometimes have some F&F issues I rarely buy on line. I would rather go to a Case dealer and look them over so none of my Case knives have F&F problems. That said I would stick with Case. Seems like GEC is always out of stock. Since I don't own any GEC Knives I always have to look at the KSF site when you talk model numbers and it seems they never have the actual model being talked about in stock. GEC makes a lot less knives than CASE and can afford to take more time on each knife. If they made knives at the volume Case does I would guess there would be more complaints.

Sorry for the boring image; but it's dark outside (and the lighting inside isn't "photo quality").

I have been doing pretty well with resisting new knives; but my only 55 is showing it's age a little. Show me the right covers, and my wallet would open.
