You can only pick one.

The inspiration was Benchmade's Facebook Bracket Battle.

Please see the other thread Top 20 Benchmade Knives where the list of 20 was made. BladeForum only allows 20 choices in a poll.

  1. 530/531 Family
  2. 707 Sequel
  3. 710
  4. 790 Subrosa
  5. 805 TSEK
  6. 806 AFCK
  7. 860 Bedlam
  8. 940/943 Family
  9. 950 Rift
  10. Adamas Family
  11. Ares Family
  12. Bali-Song Family
  13. Barrage Family
  14. Contego Family
  15. Griptilian Family
  16. Rukus Family
  17. Skirmish Family
  18. Snody Family
  19. Stryker Family
  20. Triage Family

For me, it's the Contego. Out of my 20+ knives it's my favorite. I recently bought a 710, and even though I don't like the scales the knife really is amazing.

I'd add the Shoki (480/483 Shoki/Shori) to the list, but the 940 gets my vote of what's here.

I have a 940 and a 950 but the 940 gets the majority of pocket time. Just bought a 943 as well. :)

I vote 913:

Griptilian...much like the Spyderco Delica and Endura, the Grip delivers an exceptional quality knife capable of virtually any work a folding knife made see, in a premium steel, with great ergonomics, with great edge geometry, with an easy open/close design system, and with many different options that offer different advantages for different users' needs. The customizing capability is also a plus, as is the ability for users to pick from about 6 different steels. Price certainly factors into this choice as it's a knife virtually anyone can afford, and despite being less than other Benchmade knives, there's zero sacrifice to quality. It's a knife that fits both being in the office and being stranded on a deserted island with only one tool.

The Ritter Grip is also notable...I think it is one of the best blade designs ever on a production knife and one of the best values ever. Many much more expensive knives don't have it's great design. The high flat grind really proves itself in most every situation an EDC may be used for.

Plus, the wide array of aftermarket scales/grips for the Grip also weighs in, as it's a degree of customization that very few knives have.

I also like how the base steels are 154CM and S30V...I don't look at exotic steels as an advantage, but more of a price premium that makes the knife less affordable, and often a sharpening annoyance in which time isn't really saved much on sharpening in many cases.

The Skirmish is awesome...especially the Mini and it's a knife that never got the credit it deserved. The 940/943 is one of the best EDCs made...but in the last few years, their price has really gone up. The 710, AFCK, and TSEK are awesome knives...absolute classics, but in recent years, we've seen Benchmade make less expensive and differently-designed ergonomic models...plus their size limits their practicality for many. For example, the Contego has really offered an alternative large, heavy-use folder, with ergonomics that are arguably among the best seen today. And as much as I love the practical size of the 707, I've never taken to it like I have the 705.

Also, I like the 941 over the 943 because Benchmade did so many different styles/colors of the 941, and they really haven't done anything fun like that for the 943...

great poll, really shows the difference in user preference here compared to FB, speaking of, I'd love to see the numbers for the FB bracket, if anyone cares to go count them...

I voted 710. To me it's near perfect.

I missed out on the Skirmish back when it was still being produced. Looks right up my alley. Wish they would bring it back. That and the BM-HK 14255 Tanto.

Not a fair list. I vote for the 525 mini presidio, but it wasn't on the list because it was beat out in the benchmade bracket tournament in the second round....by the 940. NOT FAIR!

1. 525
2. 890
3. yellow mini grip
4. 707-1201
5. Adamas
6. 710
7. AFCK
8. 940

Dang, I came in to this thread thinking I knew exactly what I'd pick.
But after thinking about it, I've changed my mind a bunch o times.
940, 806, 710, Ares.
I give up.

I voted for the griptilian family.

They are great edc knives at a relatively affordable price imo

Top 4 with 102 votes in and the Griptilian Family is chasing the 940/943 Family for first place:

  1. 940/943 Family ..... 22%
  2. Griptilian Family .. 17%
  3. 710 ................ 12%
  4. Contego Family ..... 10%

Surprising strength for Contego.
