(I do have to say though the #81 Waynorth City Sock, for me, is unfathomably close) sowaynorth , extremely thankful for guiding that one through the posts

You designed a beauty and am glad you are enjoying it.My 2024 KOTY came down to three finely made lambsfoot knives.
Early in the year Paul @Jakeywax31 led the charge to get a group of lambsfoot knives made by @Cosimo De Benedetto . These arrived in late June and were an instant hit, resulting in a second group order being placed. These are great knives with fantastic jigging, carbon steel blade, and fluted bolsters. This one got a lot of use from me, but is not my KOTY.

Next up, I was part of the group that was fortunate enough to get my hands on the fruits of Barrett’s @btb01 labor and collaboration with Eric @ea42 . This GL-24 Albers lamb is phenomenal in every aspect, but it also is not my KOTY.

Now for my KOTY. This spring BobRufus1949 graciously held a GAW in honor of his grand daughter that was soon arriving. Applying the blind squirrel theory I someone won that GAW and the result was a custom lambsfoot to be made by Cosimo. After working out the details I landed on a Washington Jack style lambsfoot knife with dyed smooth bone covers. Since its arrival this knife has been in my pocket more days than not. It is a heirloom piece that I have been thankful to Bob for every time it goes in my pocket. Thank you Bob for such a great GAW gift. THIS is my 2024 KOTY.

This thread is good fun. I'm enjoying seeing the selections and decision-making processes.
I couldn't possibly though. In addition to the embarrassment of riches that I acquired this year, I'm terrible-- absolutely terrible at singular favorites. Best I can do is that my favorite traditional.knives of the past year were all GEC 2-blade, single spring models.
...So maybe the catch bit is my favorite knife part of the year!
I acquired several interesting knives this year, but only two were candidates for KOTY.
The Buck 112 Stealth Run in Magnacut, with nickel silver bolsters and rosewood scales is pretty much what I would have ordered from the Buck Custom Shop, except they didn't have these options at the time this came out. This has much of what I like about my Buck 110, except it's pocketable, and uses Magnacut (swoon). It has been carried a lot.

Much as I love that 112, the Guardians of the Lambsfoot '24 is my obvious Knife of the Year. It's an Albers! It's a lambsfoot! It's got cool Polish elevator micarta scales!
It's been in my pocket every day since it arrived. My KOTY is the GL-24.

I have received many beautiful knives this year, but for me, there is only one choice.
This Buck 303 was given to me last month by my Father. He retired this year, and and has been finally going through his home office to declutter the place (my Mother wants him to have a relaxing space, not a working space!) and he found this long lost knife in an old cigar box long stashed away. He carried this in high school and it has huge personal history and significance for him, and he wanted me to have it!! I couldn't believe it, I was beyond grateful. Since then, I've cleaned it up a bit, sharpened the blades, and have been carrying it with me every day since in my fifth jeans pocket. What an absolute treasure:

This is my knife for 2024.
I'm a sucker for a good stockman, so I'm not at all surprised that the #81 Boss Bull Keeper is my Knife of the Year. It has effectively dominated my pockets since I received it early this fall. Perfect size and weight for .my needs

Second runner up is the Case 20cv medium stockman. Again, I can't resist a stockman, especially not one made in the USA with modern steel. It's a bit small for my taste as I view the 8OT as the gold-standard in Stockmen. But, it was my #1 traditional knife via pocket-time in 2024 until the #81 arrived.

Third runner up is the GEC #05 simply because it's always in my pocket, though seldom used.
What I would give for an #81 Abilene Stockman in AEB-L at 63 RC... that would be the knife of a lifetime.
That knife has been big this year![]()
Easy choice this year: My cherished City Stock. Thanks Charlie.
Such great practical daily use knives.I'm such a gomer. But I really like this thing. View attachment 2746815

This is my knife for 2024.
There are knives that are valuable and then there are knives that are invaluable. I’d say this is the latter in your case, Forrest! Great knife with significant importance.I have received many beautiful knives this year, but for me, there is only one choice.
