Is that one really incorrect though? Because there are several things I could lower the bar on even further on how little I care about them. To change it up to correct and say I couldn't care less would mean I've already hit rock bottom. True. But I'm not most people. I'm at worst two or three people. But I'm working on being MediumBob54.Okay but when you think about the circumstances when people say it, it is clear they are trying to emphasize that they don't care. So why say "I could care less" which emphasizes a certain baseline level of caring, when the point would be more directly made by saying "I could care a lot more", which emphasizes that the amount they care is little, if any.
