Yuna Knives BEWARE

Yun has refunded me as he offered. He actually offered me a refund of my deposit +10% or the knife finished in < 1 week. I chose the refund and thanked him for the offer on the additional 10%, but said that all I needed was my full deposit back. He refunded me 110% of my deposit back anyway. Just so folks know.

Thanks for returning and filling us in with the last chapter!
Glad you got tightened up........I personally would not deal with this guy...thanks for sharing!
Now get in touch with a GOOD maker and get a blade bro!

Not a perfect ending(there wasn't going to be one IMO), but at least you were made whole again
Thanks for the update

Yup!! Impossible for a perfect ending when someone holds your money hostage for 3 1/2 years!

Hostage!?! Was there a ransom note or any demands made?

Strong choice of words :). Seems like a low interest loan in retrospect. Glad to see a satisfactory resolution.

VERY low interest loan!!! $40 on $400 for almost 3 years??? Sign me up!!!

I received confirmation of my knife order from Yun on Dec. 11, 2012 and was told that his waiting list was 15 months.

I was requested to deposit $405 on Mar. 20, 2015 by Yun and he advised "Thanks for payment! Knife will be finished in 3-4 months.".

I have received ZERO correspondence from Yun, knife maker of Yuna Knives in the over one year since my deposit.

Thus, the wait has been 3 years and 4 months when originally quoted 1 year and 3 months and then the wait has been over 1 year after deposit when told 3-4 months.

I am sharing this for folks to consider when dealing with this completely irresponsible person. I find extended delays after taking funds unacceptable.

I have requested a refund but as of yet have received no response.

I hope this information can be of benefit to others.

^ It's amazing, how well some of these GBU thread's work out; especially when you expose their unethical actions, in the court of public opinion. It's almost like magic! :D
Now, if Dustin Turpin would just wake up & face the music!

^ THIS, is fantastic news!

Insinuating Yun isn't a good maker? Like who would be a good maker? And do they even have their books open? Will you get your knife on time?

OP had a chance to get a knife from Yuna that will be one of a kind and he bailed, which is just plain nuts to me. And instead of throwing stones, you can always look for feedback before you jump in.

You have got to be kidding me. Oh.....THIS time he really really means the OP will get his knife?? Did you read the whole thread?? He's been waiting 3 1/2 years. That's cool according to you?
This time it'll take less that a couple of months to hear back??
He did the right thing by getting his money back.

I'm actually not kidding you and yes I read the whole thread. If you've never waited that long for a knife, you haven't been in the game long enough to graduate to that level yet. Or, you pay secondary market prices for customs and pay the price not to wait to get it direct. I will stick up for Yun every day of the week and you have no legs to stand on since you've never bought from him or handled one of his knives. I have never, ever heard of Yun not delivering.

Just a couple things to say
It is correct that Yun has always asked for a deposit at the start of the build, He also does have a good reputation, and this is the 1st negative I have seen. Knife makers also are often behind schedule, wait can be very long and many are poor communicators or our communications don't seem to get to them. IMO and I think most, taking a deposit raises the level of obligation on the maker considerably . With all that said 1 year is a long time from the start of the build(estimated at 3-4 months) and with no communication. Certainly some buyers ask for much more attention than they deserve(your not pen pals), but a little communication on the progress of the build or a response to his Emails could have avoided this whole problem. If the maker doesn't take a deposit they are free or at least more free to do as they will. The buyer is out nothing but dreams. If you take their money at any time they do have a right to know what is happening with it. The buyer is this case probably did make a good decision to take the money. From other similar cases I have observed, by the time you get to this point the knife is tainted to him. If they don't take the refund they just sell the knife as soon as they get it
If nothing else this thread should give any prospective Yuna buyers an idea of the patience they may need in the process.

That about sums up my 2 cents on the matter.
