Yup another GEC thread!

Are the long pulls any easier to open? I like my #73 a lot but due to how heavy the pull is and I'm not getting any stronger, this my be my first and last GEC! For a while it seemed to be breaking in and getting easier, but the other day I had to use a Leatherman to open the extra heavy secondary blade!

I bought a new # 73 for my son. It seems to be harder to open than my # 23
Maybe the longer blade on the # 23 gives me more leverage

2XTap on another forum suggested using the side of the thumbnail closest to
the side of the thumb. Not sure if I am saying it right.

I used to use the center of my thumbnail, now I use the side. Pull blade open to halfstop. Then change my grip so thumb and index finger grasp the sides of blade to finish the pull open.

The old method of center of thumbnail pull GEC open in one long pull does not work for me. Tooooo many chunks of fingernails cluttering up the floor. Ha ha :D

Wow, I had no idea that those were so big. First time I've seen one in someones hand. That's no tooth pick, it's a 2x4!

Thanks guys! Mine is a 2007 model. Since reoiling the joints it has gotten better. I did find out that when it is being stubern on the secondary I can open the main and just get a full grasp pinch and open it that way. I don't like doing that though as it seems to be a good way to eventually get cut by that really sharp 1095!
