Zero Tolerance 0392 BWBRZ!!

I for one am not a fan using a lottery, it is not any more equitable than the systems in place. People will still flip if the market is there. The knives are being flipped because they can be, not just from evil flippers. The average guy knife buyer is able to score two LE knives, for $400, likes the knife but would love to have it for free, sell one for $800 if he can, and keep the other for free. This is has been the scenario in the cult wine arena for a long time. As the release price and scarcity goes up so does the price on the secondary market. It is just a knife, if you get one at the release price great, if not find one at a price you are willing to pay or buy something else, at the end of the day they all cut and slice.

I think ZT should sell them by invitation only like Ferrari does with their high end limited editions.

Be thankful ZT is not pricing them high enough that there would be no secondary market for flippers. If the MSRP on a 0392 was $750 there probably would not have been nearly the chaos, and many flippers would not have bothered with it, but they probably still would have sold them all.

Detents on the 0392's seem to vary a lot, the silver/blue one I played with was so weak you could use the "blade stops" to open it, the ball detent barely engaged the blade hole, and as a result the flipping action was pretty weak. Felt much like my 0560cbcf and much weaker than my 0452, 0562, 0620 knives. Most others seem to report detents that are pretty strong on theirs, but obviously a few weak ones were sent out.

Here's a short video I made for the flipping action. I think that it has broken in nicely.

Couldn't help myself.
Here he is with his brother.

Slightly lighter detente than the original, but also a little smoother. I love it.

That actually looks better than the promotional pictures they had out. Perhaps I should have grabbed one after all.

I am a little confused as to the anger with flippers, I have never flipped anything myself, but people will pay what the market can handle. If something is in short supply then the price goes up if there is a large demand. The more interesting question to me is why any of us absolutely need to own one specific knife or another, I already own way more than I need. If I cannot buy a knife on release, and the price in the secondary market goes to high, I just move one. Because I was not able to buy a knife, I don't see the point in attacking the knife, the manufacturer, the vendor and the people who bought and might flip. I feel lucky to have bought the 0392bwbrz but if I had not I would be fine too, limited release means just that.

Because flippers have no interest in owning the knife, just making a quick buck. That takes the chance to buy the knife from someone else who'd actually appreciate it.

I will state however, people who are buying from the flippers are part of the problem. If the knife is worth that much to them that they'll actually pay a 50-100% markup, hey great, but that's only encouraging the flippers to keep coming back.

Wondering if someone would want to trade an original LNIB on NIB 0392, or maybe another limited ZT for one of these...

I've got #44 right here and it is beautiful! The detent, like the others, are strong but I like that. I much prefer strong detents to weak one. I suspect that It will break in nicely.

#190 arrived to day. Love this knife, not usually a fan of brass, gold or bronze parts but with the blackwash finish the color accents are perfect. Color is off on my Iphone image.
Centered perfectly, blade came sharp and flips beautifully. Very happy.

I think maybe the detent ball is deformed on mine?

The flipping action is different. It's very strong (too strong IMO). But only on every other flip.

Nice smooth flip similar to my ZT0560BW and my Bodega... then next flip, the detent is stupid strong like my 0562CF.

Coming in hot on the Exchange at $600 and up!

Seriously, for anyone who bought one for $600+, I want to hear what you have to say.

-Why not just buy a Hinderer Eklipse for hundreds of dollars cheaper?

-Why not wait a couple of weeks and get the 392 BW hundreds of dollars cheaper?

-Why put so much money into a knife that hasn't been in circulation or used long enough to know if this particular knife has fit or performance issues?

-Why does "Limited Edition" matter so much to you considering that ZT isn't going to release how many units were made or sold? Part of the cachet of owning an "LE" is a measurable sense of exclusivity.

-Are you going to end up using this knife at all?

-Do you expect to make a profit over the long run on it?

Where is the Hinderer for "hundreds" cheaper, from what I have seen only one vendor has "had" them for less that $500 most are between 550 and 700.
Personally I like the blade shape on the ZT a lot more than the one with the Eklipse

I love it. The detent is pretty strong, but not too strong...just right. I love the blackwash finish.

I've found that if you buy three and sell two the third one is free :p

There are a lot of people that a couple hundred bucks either way is nothing. Why spend a bunch of time searching for the "deal" when you have money to burn. You like it you buy it simple as that, dont need a reason its only money they will make more.

ZT has done it for me with the 0392bwbrz. I understood why the XM-18 is still considered better than the many ZT colab, but I don't think the Eklipse has anything on the 0392bwbrz. This is one LE that can take a beating and won't give the owner a heart attack.

If anyone has a NIB 0392 (either release), that they're willing to sell...I have 300 bones to throw at you...that's 3 Big Benjamin's. Please feel free to hit me up, if you got one of these shanks...we're talkin cashola...from one BF brother, to another.
