Zero Tolerance 0392BLKGRN

I really like the design but its basically the same price as a hinderer.... wtf?

The difference is that the resale value will be a lot higher on these. Limited vs standard production.

Maybe not as much this time, though. They're starting to develop a bit of a library of this model and I don't know if there's going to be the same kinda rush. Flippers will buy them up, but I don't know how much demand there will actually be after the fact. We might see these moving below initial cost on the secondary market just due to lack of interest.

I also had a very positive experience with mine (0392 BRNGLD)
No problems with the grind, centering, or any other functional issues . The detent is perfect, never too hard, a slight pull is enough to launch the blade everytime.
Mine don't have any rough edges, in fact that's the first thing I've noticed about the knife, how smooth it felt in my hand (not slippery though). I suspect it could be the thick PVD coating on them. I never handled the first 2 versions, but I think the coating made all the difference here.

I feel it's more than an equal to a real hinderer (definitely a better flipper) and the initial pricing is justified... Just my opinion (based on my experiences with other ZTs and hinderers)

i couldn't agree more. I love my 0392BRNGLD and feel that it superior to ZT's regular offerings. the heavy detent makes the blade fly open every time and when the lock is released the blade falls closed like butter. i like this green black color way even more than the previous ones

I'm looking forward the daily Knife Exchange posts along the lines of "BNIB ZT 0392BLKGRN. Box never opened, packaging never so much as looked at, never even taken out of mailbox. $600 NET TO ME."

I'm a big fan of "This is a catch and release. Turns out it just wasn't for me."

Yup!!! I think it was about 3 weeks before the brown/gold hit the Exchange! I remember a bunch of whiny bitches complaining about how ZT's site handled the load......those guys were the sellers!

Figured I'd see you here, John ;)

I will say that the wharncliffe model of the 0392 might be the only one I would have the smallest shred of interest in anymore.

^ You've got me figured out Coleman. FWIW- I really like the blade design on this 0392, however blue/purple/natural titanium are my favorite colors. I'm just not digging that green color for some reason.

And now let me formally apologize for contributing to the derailment of this thread.
Sorry everyone. I couldn't keep quiet about that.

^ Brilliant comment Brancron...& oh so true! :D

^ I for one, don't appreciate you talking about me in this manner, Joe! RD, already warned you to knock it off! ;)

So true! I wish someone would just put one up for sale and honestly say they bought it in the first place so that they could make a profit. I've given up caring one way or another since I can't do anything about it! :)

Same price as a base model Hinderer. Add in the cost of a titanium scale and anodized titanium hardware and your looking at $700 plus for the same version of a Hinderer.

I really like this one, it is a nice variation of the design. Green is a bear to do from what I hear from the folks that actually do anodizing.

I have to pass on this one, sadly. I have the prior three and love them, rotating them into my carry often.

I am saving for the 606 and 999 though, and also have the Busse WTF coming up someday, so I will have to live vicariously through you folks who are able to get them for yourselves.

best

I don't mind the color scheme, and I may try to snag one only because I can't get my hands on any of the others for under $550-600. And I'm not contributing to a 50% markup.

The only reason I'd like the green is because for whatever reason it makes me think of The Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly :D, the weird associations we make.

Green and black is just a good color combination. At least they resisted the urge to call it the "zombie edition".

Haha indeed. The only reason I consider one of these over a Hinderer is ZT generally always has great flipping action. For $450 and up there really isn't a good reason for XM's having detent problems. What I'd really like is a flipper less XM-18 though.

Thanks my friend!
And yeah; I tend to agree with your color preferences, just replace purple with bronze, and that's me as well. The green can sometimes be nice, but this is too much of it, and not really as tasteful as some other makers have done it, like most custom knives hat have green anodizing on them.

I like the blade design, but ZT never seems to be able to properly execute a grind from my experience. There's always some re-profiling needed if you want to actually use the knife and maintain a consistent edge from my experience, which bothers me.

And the compliments are greatly appreciated my friend, really. Sometimes I let that passion get a little out of control, but I try to keep it reasonable for those reading at home as much as I can ;) :D

Who got one? I think I did but I won't hold my breath. I've gotten the oversold follow up emails before.
