The Zero Tolerance 0550/0551 series is definitely one of my favorite ZT folders.

There were a total 7 models released:

  1. 0550 (Gen 1)
  2. 0550 (Elmax -- only 113)
  3. 0551
  4. 0550 (Gen 2)
  5. 0550BLK
  6. 0550BW
  7. 0550 (Gen 3)

Here are a couple of pictures of my 8 from top to bottom:

  1. 0550 (Gen 1)
  2. 0550 (Elmax)
  3. 0551 - Rival CF scale
  4. 0551 - Hinderer Orange Scale
  5. 0550 (Gen 2)
  6. 0550BLK
  7. 0550BLK - Hinderer CF scale
  8. 0550BW

I really like the blackwash version at the bottom, very nice collection.

Thanks. I really like the BlackWashed one too. Out of those eight, I've only used the 0550BLK with CF Hinderer scale. I'm tempted to take the Rival CF scale and put it on the BW and instead use that one.

The El Max typo was on the 0560/0561 not the 0551.

Also the 0551 should be model #1 as it was released 6 months or so before the 0550. I love them too!

Nice collection!

So, you're also saying there were 6 models but the order of release was as follows instead of what I had listed?

  1. 0551
  2. 0550 (Gen 1)
  3. 0550 (Elmax -- only 113)
  4. 0550 (Gen 2)
  5. 0550BLK
  6. 0550BW

Yes. The Elmax 0550 were in the mid 600 to 700 range so that would be right. My oldest 0550 is #610 and it is S35VN.

I love that Black Washed. Who is it that sells them?

My user.

Great collections - it's interesting to see ALL of the variations of a model lined up like this. I just side-shifted from Strider SMF into 0550BLK. I don't mind the stock G-10 scale, but the customs y'all have here are beautiful, and my bank account is starting to tug at me :)

I would like to figure out what the changeover # from Gen1 to Gen2 is. That way we know how many Gen1s were made.

There are also other small changes that happened mid production. Laser cut vs wire EDM cut lock bars. Small edge chamfer vs the larger chamfer on edges of the TI scales. Detent ball hole drilled all the way through vs a blind hole. Gen2 lock bar side with Gen1 G10 side.

Here are the serial numbers on my 0550/0551:

  1. 0551 - ELMAX - Gen 1: 1002
  2. 0551 - ELMAX - Gen 1: 1070
  3. 0550 - S35VN - Gen 1: 1927
  4. 0550 - ELMAX - Gen 1: 0800
  5. 0550 - S35VN - Gen 2: 4116
  6. 0550BLK - S35VN - Gen 2: 0151
  7. 0550BLK - S35VN - Gen 2: 0256
  8. 0550BW - S35VN - Gen 2: 0069

Mine's just plain =/

Mine is a Blem due to uneven swedge grind. Thanks for being picky, KAI, and putting this knife in my budget. Its my favorite looking knife but my 566 gets more carry time because it fits better in the pocket.

Mine is a gen 2, serial # 2594
