Zero Tolerance 0550/0551 Goodness

After my small Insingo, I'd say the 0550 is my favorite folding knife.
I don't have this modded one any more, but I still have the pics...

The ZT 0550BW which is a BladeHQ exclusive has dropped in price from $220 to $199!

Also, we now have the ZT 0550 Gen 3 with the hardened stainless steel lock bar insert to address lock stickiness and wear.

Excellent!^^^

The 0551/0550 platform is one of my favorite ZTs. I may love my 0801 just a little more nowadays, but that Hinderer tank is what got me to love ZTs in the first place!

lockbar insert + over-travel disc, too much over-travel protection?

If you think about it, both features are eliminating over-travel in different directions so it's all good as far as I'm concerned. Plus the hardened steel insert keeps the lockbar from sticking. A lot of people complained about that.

I have a 1.5 (new clip titan side, old clip G10 side) and I love it. Recently got some Mr. Gnoleb standoffs and LBS and a matching pocket clip in bronze to throw on there and now it looks great, just planning to get a different scale for it soon.

I'll get some picts of it soon.

Well damn fellas. I've been eyeing the 550 for some time now, this isn't going to help. Just picked up a Southard and have s 561 inbound.

How would you compare the 560/1 to the 550 series?

I have both. The 0550 is shorter and fatter with a deeper blade. It's more simple and tank like compared to the 0560. I like having both, really.

how are the directions different?

how are the directions different?

1. Lockbar stabilizer prevents you from over-extending your lockbar when you're disengaging the lock (direction - pushing out)

2. The titanium lockface is known to gall, making the lock stick at times. Plenty of users complained about this. Titanium is also known to wear quicker than steel. By adding the hardened steel insert, the Ti lockbar won't wear as quickly (direction - pulling in)
