Zero Tolerance 0562CF & 0620CF Pre-orders

I picked up my 0562cf a few weeks ago at my local dealer. He received both versions but said that Zero Tolerance is difficult to order from because of the wait times. Some orders never come in and some do. What I can tell you is that this is the best ZT I have owned and I brought my buddy in today to buy the 0620. The fit and finish is excellent and it glides on those ball bearings. Best flipper I have held and some say just as good as an XM-18 although I have never held one. Let's hope that both versions go into production as planned because that M390 is good stuff.

I paid upfront, although the transaction still is "pending" according to paypal since I don't think the funds will be taken out until the knife is shipped. It was through Dvor, which apparently is an affiliate of Optics Planet where they do these flash sales, a la Amazon's "lightning deals". So technically it wasn't a preorder, it was more of a "buy this now and we'll ship to you when we actually get them". I too was pretty confused as to how they were going around MAP pricing but we'll see if they keep that price once they actually get the knives.

I'm waiting on mine as well. I emailed them Friday and they emailed me back within half an hour and said they were expecting a shipment of them on the 13th, however they didn't specify how many. As far as MAP, they have since done a sale on favorite knives with similar prices on some ZT's, but they didn't have the newer models for sale I noticed. I've bought an 0801 from them previously with no issues other than waiting a week or so, but this has been the longest I've had to wait. It seems like ZT is having a hard time getting the supply on these 2 models caught up to the initial demand, but they will get there eventually. I haven't run across a better deal yet with them in stock anyway, so I'll have the patience of Job when it comes to this knife for the right deal.

My CF is 0379..

..

Mine is in the 0200s, I just sent it off to get mega pimped so don't remember what the exact number is. I paid $240 from a mom and pop. My buddy has been waiting on preorder for months. Since I'm getting my cf pimped im on the lookout for another 0562cf. I'm surprised these haven't been more available. OverpriceBay has them for $379-440. Lol at that.

The 0562cf is a lot of quality for the price, it is the same quality and flips better than some of my customs.

Getting excited about them when I first saw them made me overcome the ridiculous price(for a production knife). Waiting day after day made me realize that these knives don't have any spectacular locks, and they are marketed as "slicers" but will never cut as well as the Avispa I purchased in the interim. The 0562 I can already tell will be on par with the PM2, which has actually become almost too thick to be called a slicer in my opinion. Folding knives are not for prying or fixed blade purposes, so I do not need a tank. I believe folding knives are for quick deployment and maximum cutting ability. In that perspective, these knives are pretty but basically more of the same trend. So, I passed. Lol.

Ridiculous price? $240 is a pretty nice deal for M390, caged bearing flipper, Carbon fiber, titanium framelock and Hinderer design. And I disagree about the PM2 being a tank and having a thick blade stock, mine slices like a demon and is one of my thinnest folders. Do you EDC a paper plate? :p

Paramilitary is pretty thin. Some people like tank folders, some like extreme cutters. Some like both from time to time.

I use an ESEE Avispa and a Delica 4. I can definitely say that the PM2 is outperformed by both. I love the knife, will never sell mine, but it falls into the "light pocket tank" category. Carry an Avispa and you will see. Destroys anything else in that size in terms of cutting ability. Anything over 3mm thick in a folder is overkill. That is the point at which one should switch to a fixed blade. Again, I believe folders are best used for superior cutting performance since they are already a small tool.

$240 for a production knife is, in fact, a ridiculous price. Unless you can prove that there is not a huge gap between cost of materials/labor and price of finished product? I agree, they are two very cool knives that I was excited about, but they dont bring anything to the table to beat what I have in pocket. The steel is better, sure, and the bearing system is pretty cool. The framelock has been done to death, but I do like it to a point. I like the knives, I'd just rather spend a little more on a custom if I'm going to go over $100-$150 because that is the price point at which performance starts to bring diminishing returns, and we start paying for cool unique locks, super steels, and aesthetics. Just my opinion. If it were up to me, I'd like to try an upgraded Avispa or something with similar performance. Now THAT I would pay $240 for, because I know I'd be getting a serious slicer.

I know most people want pocket tanks or knives that can cut well but stand up to abuse. I guess I just have a different opinion of designs. I've always wanted the razor sharp slicing ability of traditionals in a modern package.

I think the PM2 is the perfect middle ground for the two, which is why I own one. But I definitely fall into the extreme cutting/slicing category. Using SAKs, Opinels and traditional knives made me realize that I'm never going to need to torque or pry with my folder.

I have the same opinion about machetes. I like big choppers, I like axes, but a thin Tramontina machete will destroy everything you put in front of it because it is super thin, but wide from edge to spine. That width translates to strength but since it is so thin, it glides through most things with ease.

Lots of big changes with ZT lately, selling L.E.s direct and no longer selling any knives to distributers.

I did the pre-oreder on both versions of the 0562 and 0620 on 1-21-14. Thanks to the people at BHQ, 3 of them came last month. I'm still waiting on the 0562CF.

I cancelled my preorder when I saw other places start getting them in and them showing up in the exchange. Guess I'll just continue the waiting game for one :\

Funny, I ordered the 0620CF on 1-21-2014 at 8am (7am Utah time) and have not received a thing.

Perception is everything:

3.5" XM-18 Flipper/Slicer Grind (Hinderer Version): $600+
3.5" XM-18 Flipper/Slicer Grind (ZT Version): $240

Yep, the ZT version is WAY too expensive, all right.

Seems like supplies have been way below demand for these.

That certainly doesn't come as any surprise to me. Some folks know a bargain when they see it.

This sounds pretty disingenuous based on your following posts. You never had any real interest or desire to buy one of these knives.

Right, that's why I pre ordered it and repeatedly stated I was excited about it. You know what they say about assumptions.
