Zero Tolerance 0801S110V Limited Run

Yes. And still in stock.

Legitimate ZT dealer? Only one I see is one with a playing card in the name.

Edited to Add: I just talked to ZT and that playing card name dealer (both online and B&M store) is a legitimate ZT dealer.

Without trying to stir the pot again on the detent hole issue, I did want to report that I received my second one today, and I (Edward Sissyhands) was very elated to find that it flips easily, just like all my other 0801s. That caused me to look more closely at the detent hole on this one. It doesn't look anything like the detent hole on the first one I received (which looks the same as al g benny's and has a super strong detent). In fact, the detent hole on the newest arrival is even smaller than the detent hole on my standard 0801! That probably explains the ease of flipping.

In any case, I don't know what the design (regular vs strong detent) was intended to be, but I'm very glad to have scored one that flips very easily and smoothly. I was trying to make peace with the super-strong detent and rocket-fire opening on the first one I received, but I'm very glad to have another option.

Ah see now we're getting somewhere. Do you think ZT does the detents by hand on an individual basis? If they think it's too weak they adjust? Thats interesting that they go to that effort on detent alone....if that's the case.

I also have two of the 0801S110V and one definitely has a stronger detent than the other one. However, I have pretty strong hands and fingers so no biggie.

I guess I do too - I hand a knife to other people and they sometimes are unable to open it or complain about how hard it is to open, when I can just open it.

I assume most of us have callouses on our flipper fingers.

I shoot pistols quite a bit and have various grip and finger exercise implements to strengthen fingers, grips and forearms. I learnt these from IDPA World Stock Service Pistol champ Bob Vogel. It's about minimizing recoil for subsequent shots and muscle stamina.

I tend to shoot quite a bit as well. :barbershop_quartet_

Anyone seen a serial# above 400?

Other than the following has any other ZT dealer carried them?

  1. Kershaw Guy
  2. GP Knives
  3. Knives Ship Free
  4. Blade HQ
  5. Knife Center
  6. Knife Art
Add AOK to that list so:

* Kershaw Guy
* GP Knives
* Knives Ship Free
* Blade HQ
* Knife Center
* Knife Art
* AOK

Assuming they all got 30 that would only be 210.
The thing is I don't think they all got 30..when I ordered 1 from KC last week I asked the nice lady on the phone how many they got in and was told they got 20.
From the start this was called a "very limited run" and so far its living up to that.

If that list is true, and each got ~30 (we know BHQ at the very least got more than 30), we're still in line for a release of only 300 pieces. I'm still guessing 200 here in the US and 100 for Europe.

I'm going to "guess" that your "guess" is wrong.... :eek:

After a fortunately-corrected mis-deliver by USPS, I received my 0801S110V today! Mine has the same detent cutout as al g blenny's, and is the strongest detent I've had on a flipper, notably moreso than my previous two regular 0801's. That said, I absolutely love it. It is about impossible to flip it without having it lockup, and being used to various flippers, the strength of it doesn't bother me. The blade came with perfectly even grinds and a beautifully sharp factory edge. I also quite enjoy the smooth, stonewashed handles over the other 0801's I've had. Thank you KAI!

Still haven't seen a serial number above 400, I wonder if only 500 were made and 100 sent overseas?

I put a decent edge on mine last night. The factory edge came almost perfectly ground at 20 degrees per side, so the reprofile to exactly 20 dps took only a couple minutes with the 100-grit Wicked Edge diamonds. It took longer to polish and strop, but this steel takes a killer edge.

Usually, I reprofile all my blades to 30 degrees inclusive, but the blade geometry on ZT's doesn't favor acute edges. So 40 degrees inclusive it is.

It's a lot more fun to invest time in creating a fine edge when you know the steel will hold that edge for a long time.

I just got mine! Serial #321, kind of happy about that, good number. It's pretty close to perfect, very happy with it. Great first introduction to ZT! I've had Kershaws before but this is on another level.
