Zero Tolerance Current/Upcoming/Discontinued Models

I was just wondering the same...

Heck of a knife at this price. It's a great blade, but not a spyderco slicer, but ZT is not typically known for this. It gets unnecessary hate, but love the design cues and feel it's a great knife. Blade length/shape is awesome.

Man it seems like I'm more drawn to ZTs that get the axe in short order. The 920, 909, and 850 are some of my favs. My 630 would be way up there if it didnt have locking issues.
I guess I'm pretty safe with the 462, right. Who doesnt love a lightweight pocket scimitar?:D

I dunno. I'm kinda digging this 640. I hate the thumb disc on my 630 but I think that's because it's so easy to jam it up with pressure on the frame lock. The longer lock hidden under the scale should make this an easy opening knife. I'm keeping it on my radar. 2019 is supposed to be a zero gun year for me so that I can buy some new knives;)

Handled an 0640 today, nicely made but terrible ergonomics. Very slick and “pointy” all around, awkward to deploy and access the lock bar. The new clip design is nice.

Great! I will buy a 0920. Now the question is should I also buy a 0850? The disc price is tempting, but the overall profile is not, to me. But I know sometimes pics do not tell the whole story. decision decision...

My 0456CF just arrived. Beautiful knife, this is how it should have been released originally IMO. Love that its only 4.9oz

Does it have a steel liner under the cf? If it does is it skeletonized?

Based on the picture from GP Knives it doesn't look like it has a liner under the CF. Also, I'm not sure but the titanium side looks like it has been milled internally.

No steel liner under the cf side. When I get home I’ll check and see if the titanium side is skeletonized. The stonewash is a little darker than the ones on my other ZTs ever so slightly. It’s really a beautiful knife.

How’s the 0456cf knife feel? Basically what i mean is can you tell that the back is heavier than the show side or does it feel decently balanced ? It is very cool looking, nice knife !
Edit: never mind, just read the post about the same question in a different thread that says it fells well balanced

I hate our prices here. 0456CF -> 340$ (wasn't interested in that one, but still) and 0640 -> 330$ , I'd buy a 0640 for ~250$ no problem, but almost 100 on top, it becomes less interesting.

Time to move to the USA

Awesome! Those stainless steel liners on ZTs are probably my biggest gripe with the company. If they are going to use a stainless liner then atleast wish they would skeletonize it heavily like on the first gen 560s.

I know some people feel

It took some time but the zt620 went down to a sale price of 120$US post discontinuation from stores trying to get it off their shelves. Maybe we will see something similar with the 640 if we wait?

I would bet eventually they will drop in price (probably when they’re about to be discontinued) like the 0620, 0909, 0920, 0804, 0055 etc....unless they sell like hotcakes like the 0562, 0452, (or a sprint run like the 0456) they will eventually be discontinued for other models and on sale and for a discount. Might not be for a year or more, but If it’s a regular production model it will most likely go down in price at somepoint.

Seems to be an odd phenomenon...designs like the 055, 920, and 850 sell poorly while in production, but once they leave production a year or two later (some) become highly sought after. Case in point is the ZT MUDD.

I already had the 920. Was kicking around the idea of picking up a 850 - saw the price reduced by ~$100 and pulled the trigger immediately. Never was too interested in the 055, but the reduced price was too hard to resist so that was ordered shortly after. It’ll be interesting to see if the desirability with any of these models increase once they are no longer produced.

Models with niche designs and/or unique mechanisms are the ones that typically increase in value the fastest. Nearly all models that are discontinued creep up in value, though, just due to a combination of a reduced available supply and pricing being placed in the hands of consumers.

I’d say the 0055 stands the best chance of seeing a significant price hike. It has a very distinct style and an uncommon flipper mechanism. The 0850 was already expensive to begin with, so it’ll likely hover at normal price for a bit after being discontinued.

Agree with your assessment. The 0055 is so weird and unique for ZT I suspect it will become the collectors “must have” piece. After it has been out of production a couple years we’ll see them flip for prices over current MSRP. Just a hunch.
