Umm, there's been a transition since ZT was started. The 0300 series is and has always been a SpeedSafe knife. The 0350 was also given a couple variations with a composite blade.
Yes, there's certainly some transition, but it generally happens after a design element has proven popular. These days almost every ZT design is sure to be a hit, because it's a production version of a knife that's already a huge hit. It's a pretty great business strategy, but it sure doesn't offer me anything I haven't seen before and that's part of why I continue to buy knives. To see unique mechanisms and design innovations. That's a big part of the reason ZT just doesn't do it for me.
