Zero Tolerance options

I really like my 456. It actually fits my hand better than anything else I have ever had. The 0808 is next on my list.

It's hard to pick just one without knowing some of your personal preferences. What uses? What size hands or what size and weight of knife you prefer?

But alot of good suggestions already and you really can't go wrong if you just reasearch and decide which appeals to you ... do you want assisted open or non ... which knife appeals to you size wise and is aesthetically pleasing to you.

For lightweight ... my favorite is the 770CF ... but the 450 (a smaller knife) and the 452CF are nice and lightweight but feel small in my hand from the shape.

One alot don't mention that falls somewhere in the middle is the 566 ... its a midsize but has a bit more weight I carry it often ... and its basically just a slightly smaller version of the 562.

And getting into the bigger heavier knives by far for me the 0909 stands out it is non assisted but fires out and locks up like a bank vault ergos are great blade shape is useful for alot if different tasks.

And if you can find one used in decent shape the 550 is out of production but its a great knife lightweight but a work horse.

The 550 a lightweight knife?

Honestly I think the 452 is one of my fav ZTs because it is so tough like the other ZTs without being "overbuilt" It's got a huge blade, feels like a folding sabre. I would encourage anyone to check out the 452. Only thing is handle may be abit narrow for some.

I have no safe or pocket queen knives, no knife collection, but rather a small collection of knives I use for every day tasks. Each knife in my arsenal, fixed and folder, has a point and a role. When I get a new knife, it's to fill a gap in my rotation and/or to learn new steel. For example, I'd always leaned stainless for my fixed blades because I thought I needed the low maintenance of stainless vs. carbon. Without buying and using carbon blades, I'd never have realized that I'm fastidious enough in the care of my knives that carbon blades are often the better choice overall for me.

I like the looks and overall steel selections of ZT and I love the flipper. The biggest drawback I see with ZT is a personal one; I prefer 4-way carry options, or at least the option of carrying tip down, pivot up in either pocket. Again, just a personal thing.

Lots of good suggestions and options here for me however, so I'll keep considering ZT.

The 0456 is a sleeper, for sure. It's this weird combination of gentleman's folder with a blade shape made for work and built like a tank (complete with tank-like weight). It's certainly hand-filling compared to the 0452. I really like it, but I am having a hard time figuring out what to use it for. The 452 is my elegant monster, 630 is my dedicated tactical, the 909 is my hiking knife, 350 work knife, 450 is my dress knife. The 456, while one of the best feeling knives in hand, overlaps a lot of that.

I have owned maybe 20 ZT Knives.

My opinion is:

Smaller: 0450 (the zdp-189 was the best IMHO about they are all fine just pick which color material you like)

Larger: 0562cf it's just a gen and the pocket clip is awesome.

The 550 a lightweight knife?

It's not a 4 or 5oz knife or CF but it's a beast of a working knife and with the scale material it's fairly lightweight for the amount of knife you get. Not nearly as heavy as alot of ZTs bigger knives.

And I realise lightweight is subjective to everyone ... but I never notice even the 909 at about 7.5 oz carrying it all day so for me the 550 at around 6oz isn't heavy. But if you want something the weight of a case peanut ... that it isn't.

And there aren't many better all around users then the 550 IMHO.

The 0562cf is a nice one and size wise is comparable. The 0450 is a smaller one but also a good choice. The 0452 is a good larger choice but doesnt take up alot of pocket space. You will be in good hands no mattef the one you pick.

The 0562 is a great option but IMHO a poor sliver compared to the PM2
I don't see much equivalency for te PM2 in the ZT line up
The 0350 or 0095 can be worth giving a look ... but you are very likely to get something heavier and less versatile as the PM2

But if you look for something a bit different and more heavy duty I am sure you will find something ;)

Here is a picture of some of my knives
Look at the right side to have a comparison of the Delica, PM2 and some ET options

Nice collection! How is that 0630 dlc/orange? I know it is on sale and am not sure to pick it up or the one with cf scale and bettwr steel ($60 price difference)

I'm pretty sire the 550 is one of the heaviest ZT folders by a wide margin. You are probably confused and thinking of a different ZT. I don't blame you it is so confusing them all being named after just different numbers.

This is the sense I'm getting. Not that ZT knives are bad or not as functional, but I think you are right when discussing the weight, steel, ergonomics, action and compression lock of the PM2, it really is a solid package.

The 0909 is heavier. The 0550 weighs 6.20 oz.

No I have a few 550s and its the fact they used a lightweight plastic scale they really arent heavy ... especially for how much knife you get. They aren't the lightest as I said not like the smaller ZTs or the CF scaled but are still not heavy.

I have 3 just weighed each 2 are 5.9oz one is 5.8 oz ...the ZT 452 is 4.7oz on the same scale ... the 562 G10 version is 5.6 oz on the same scale.

Yes there are lighter models but most not nearly as robust as the 550.

My 808 is one of my favorite knives, great looks and size and just feels solid. It is by far the best flipper I’ve ever used.
I would have liked a version with a blackwash and a more exotic steel on the 0808

The 0630 is great
I have swapped the orange scales with standard CF scales and it looks great
I am a fan of m390 at ZT so I have hesitated a long time with a CF
I think both are great.
I use the 0630 often when I walk I the woods and the DLC supports that very well

Naaaah - my 0200 is a hair over 8 oz...and that's after I ground the scales smooth
The 0550 weighs 6.20 oz.
I have 3 just weighed each 2 are 5.9oz one is 5.8 oz
I'll jump into this game - the only 0550 I've weighed is my gen 1, and I think it was 7.9 oz (might have been 8, I really don't remember)...but that's with a copper scale. It is probably my all time favorite ZT...but I think the 0095 is still the best cutter of the (ZT) models I own
