Zing....is Here!!!

This great thread and only one pic! Come on guys! You can do better than that.

That is an excellent explanation on how a liner lock should be. I think Kershaw is doing a fine job on making liner locks. I have seen way too many Liner locks by other companies that the detent was weak and would not keep the knife closed or it could be flipped open with little effort and that is a gravity knife in Texas. I also don't like to carry a knife in my pocket that may open with little effort and cut me as I don't seem to need any help in cutting myself. BTW, I hope my Zing gets here today.

Bad news.......the zing that i had......that's right had and loved somehow came out of my pocket and i lost it!!!!!! Argggggg!!!! In 20 years of collecting only the 3rd knife lost out of my pocket. Went to the knife shop that i bought it at and they're out. On the web all i can find are black ones. I only like the orage ones!!!! Sorry about only one pic. Hopefully i will find another orange one quick!!!!

First, let me say sorry for your loss Big Matt. Maybe it will find its way back to you.

For the rest of you, here is a link for some pics I took this am as I just got my zing from NGK.

thanks, it looks like a black zing is going to be my christmas present to myself this year for sure.

one thing I've noticed in a lot of pictures is three vertical stripes on the blade, parallel to the edge and getting darker towards the edge. Is that just because the steel is ground at different angles, or is it something else?

Thanks for the pics bladkersh02. I have an orange and a black Zing that should be here today. My black Zing was suppose to been here yesterday but UPS reschedule because of heavy orders. Any way the pics will help until I get the real ZING. The Zing looks nice and slim which what I like in an EDC.

I received my Black and Orange Zing late Friday evening by UPS. These are very well made knives and are very sharp. The flipper may be the best yet by Kershaw. But could some one enlighten me to the groove pattern on the blade? Will this interfere with it's cutting and slicing ability? Thanks for any info.

Yup, that certainly enlightened me about the striations.
Btw, thanks for the pics, J-Na806.
Can' t wait for my Orange one to arrive..

Thanks for the pics, and welcome to Blade Forums!

Thanks J-Na806/Jimmy for the post mark on Blade Forums. That answered my questions. Love the Zing especially the Orange Zing. These knives feel very strong when locked open and the ball detent does it's job keeping the knife closed. I detest a liner lock with a weak ball detent and will not carry one for safety and legal problems. I would also add the people here at the Kershaw forums are very nice and willing to answer a lot questions from not just me but any one who has questions about Kershaw knives. Thanks.

The more I see, the more I want.

Man I have to get this house closed on so I can start buying knives again!! :grumpy:
Maybe I should just put the house on hold. Who needs a house anyway.....right??
;)

i finally have some excess $$ (woohoo selling textbooks to buy knives!) and if there still are some, i'll be doing the following things tomorrow:

1) Buy orange zing.
2) Take pictures.
3) Disassemble, clean, tweak and fiddle with orange zing.
4) take pictures.
5) post pictures.
6) flip Zing about a thousand times.

hopefully Rich at Davi's hasn't sold them all yet!!
