IIRC $1000 dollars worth of textbooks sold back to the book store should get you a Zing and a Coke.;)

College, those were the days

Riffraff, you are killing me with those kittehs.......:D:thumbup:

Poysin or not, Orange Zing with Damascus blade....   oh, yeah.

ok, I got my Zing! and it was about 500 dollars worth of textbooks... some of them they didn't even take back because they were "old editions..." they're so old I bought them last semester! omg!

Anyway, onto the zing lovin'!

Sweet!

I found this interesting. It seems the blade is ground at three separate angles, which means the light reflects off all of them differently, which makes the blade look like it's three different colors when it's not at certain angles. Cool.

here's the clip side of things. The clip gives me worries; it just doesn't look all that substantial. We'll see how it holds up, I guess.

Zing and Groove sharin' the love!

another side by side size comparison

Ok, one minor 'sadface' point: my Zing has "spinning-pivot" syndrome despite having the hex head pivot backing! There is SO MUCH BLASTED LOCTITE on the pivot that the hex head rotate two "clicks" in the G10 before I figured out what was happening. It didn't seem to really damage anything but that's less than ideal; if it becomes an issue I guess I'll send it in.

On the upside: wow, this knife rocks! It REALLY feels like an assisted-opener, just without the recoil. It just SNAPS open. My congratulations to the Kershaw team and especially RJ Martin, fantastic job on this knife! I forsee a lot of pocket time in it's future.

I have a little ploblem,I guess?I tried to switch the clip to leftside tip-up. The ploblem is the holds for the screws was too small. However,on the other side they are fine.Well,I hope this is just small defected from the factory.
What's about you guy, any ploblems? You think I should contact Kershaw???

Jimmy

I finally just recieved my orange Zing, after being seized at customs, and them charging me 8€()..
But anyway, it' s absolutely fantastic, only critcism is the clip, it' s just far too tight and small, but I will fix that by bending it a bit.
Otherwise I couldn' t be happier, this will definately become my new EDC knife for the next few weeks. It' s so incredibly fast, pretty much just as fast as my Leek(with A/O!), the texture on the handle is really nice, and the striations in the blade are just gorgeous! I' d highly recommend this knife to anyone looking for a VERY cool EDC knife:thumbup:

I don't think they are too small--take a flashlight and see if the liners are drilled.
Mine aren't for left-side tip-up, but I'm carrying mine right side pocket anyway.

Jimmy,

are you saying the holes in the plastic scale are too small or the holes in the liners? If it's the liners that are too small check to see if it is threaded, it is possible that liner didn't get tapped at the factory and you will need to send it in for us to fix.

Hi Tommy

Anyone else notice the similarity in the clip on the Zing and Oso Sweet? Is that a "Kershaw" influence on both sides or just a commonality in design?

I'm looking at getting a black handle Zing, and I was wondering if anyone knew what color the pocket clip was?

Thanks guys!

Silver clip on the black Zing.

Same clip on both models. The clip seemed to go with both knives, so we pulled the trigger.

Thanks for the quick reply Thomas.

I'm placing an order now for a black zing, although I wish it had a black clip.

I agree, and I really like that clip style. Some fashion with alot of function, and still small.:thumbup::thumbup:

Well, I just got my Zing today direct from Kershaw (thanks Thomas!) and I have to say I was wrong to judge this knife on a couple second hands-on impression. I've been playing with the Kershaw Zing all day and I have to say the action is AWESOME! The action on the custom is a little snappier but Kershaw's implementation is sweeeet and addictive. With a little practice you can just as easily flick the knife open with the thumbstuds but the flipper is so natural to use on this knife. Kudos to RJ Martin for an incredible, addictive design and another kudos to Kershaw for the fantastic implementation.

Glad you like yours. All of my Martin designed Kershaws are as fast/sometimes faster than my A/O's.

Sorry for the delay carrot, but we were back ordered. Glad you like the piece.
