ZT 0392 release day on 2/18!

So instead, they should release them this way and upset customers? Of course, some customers will find something to complain about anyways, but many of us know that direct sales are the way to go. Why take a step in the wrong direction? Why not go out with a bang and show your customers that you have been working on it? I'm sure ZT has space in their warehouse for a few hundred knives (but God forbid we wait).

Nope, I guess an ass-backwards sale still makes more sense. Screw the customers that have things to do with their lives, let's just market it to people that will cluck-out over ZT products...

Like I said, enjoy;)

You're right, customers are probably going to be so upset that they have to purchase through a retailer. Perhaps a retailer they use for every other knife purchase they make, the 0392 will be a giant flop and go down in history as THE knife that should have been sold direct. :jerkit:

I do have to laugh a little at the fact that some of those giving me the most crap about "whining" and telling me to suck it up in the 0454 thread are now in this thread whining about this release.

Yes.
True (just look in the mirror)
Agreed.
To move product... duh.
They stated they are.
Marketing genius, it takes sales for cash flow.
Its called an "option".
It's just a knife. Relax. You will live.

Hell, my biggest problem will be explaining to my wife how and why I spent $1000 on knives this month (if I'm lucky enough to get the 0392).

Seriously, what's the big deal? Rather than hitting the KAI website tomorrow at whatever time they go on sale, you hit the websites on the list in the email you get tonight. Lighten up Francis...

From the ZT Facebook page - FYI

"Update: We will announce the dealer locations for the ZT0392 at 5pm, PST not 5:30 - As announced, dealers we have selected have strictly agreed to abide by the same rules we have set forth on previous sales. Do not sell over MSRP, one per household, no pre-sales."

Which dealers are getting them? Where should I put in my order, since it is working for me?

Just wondering? Does someone know?

I hope you can get one, I know you like ZT knives.

I just don't understand the sudden pissing match, heck, you don't even know if the dealers you like to work with will be getting them, do you?

best

You see, that's my issue.
Its just too much to keep track of for one measly knife.

The 0454 method was simple (shopatron issues aside). You're not here by "xx" time, you miss out. Fair enough, I like that. You were told ahead of time when you can get your knife.

This method is just too complicated. Wait for announcement, then wait for dealers list at 8:30 at night. Next morning, I have to search through (potentially) multiple knife dealers and then hope I'm in the right place at the right time. All while I'm at work...
Nope, I'm good.

Call me a whinner/cryer/sissy, whatever. I don't like this method, and I have good reasons not to. It's not like I'm making this up just to complain. I'm a grown-ass man and I'm entitled to my opinion, so I don't need to be called a whinner/cryer just because you don't agree.

If you guys like going through all that leg-work just for a knife, be my guest. I'll wait until ZT goes back to direct sales where I can reliably contact one source to see if something is in-stock or not.

I pretty much agree with this.

However, this knife is not worth going through all that effort.

That's what I suspected.

I also suspect- pure conjecture- that dealers will have to release at a set time and not just when they happen to open their doors.

Like I said before, I'm excited!

All the extra leg work of typing in www.dealerXordealerY.com rather than www.zerotoleranceknives.com and attempting to click purchase now?? What if only 1 dealer gets them? Maybe I have to try 5 websites, I don't find that any more strenuous than reading multiple threads on this forum.

You

I like the sounds of that!

Wow. When you stoop to accuse someone of "whining" it is obvious that you don't have anything of value to add to the conversation.

I like a lot of what ZT had done, but they continue to botch the limited releases. The 0801LE that they did recently was much smoother. This one is not. Someone posted the comment "What part of "they are working hard to get things figured out" do you NOT understand??" I'll answer that. I find it difficult to understand why an 8 figure company with years of experience selling consumer products through a dealer network needs to "get things figured out" in the first place. That is something that they should have already gotten right (and have gotten right in other releases). If you cannot get it right, hold off on releasing the product until you can. It is a concept called "flawless launch." In many industries, it is taken seriously. With ZT and knives, not so much.

I have said this before, but let me elaborate on my thoughts about ZT. I REALLY like ZT / KAI. I have 5 of their knives, and plan to buy more... a lot more! I think they do a great job with many things. I absolutely LOVE their Hinderer collaborations. IMHO, they are BY FAR the most exciting brand out there right now. The knives they announced at SHOT look amazing! They do a lot of thing right - no, they do a lot of things GREAT. The 0392 looks awesome. That is the reason that this launch is so disheartening. Many of us who have experience in product management and channel management see how awkward this launch has become. It is like a big zit on a beautiful face. I am cirtical not because I dislike ZT or because they are making it difficult for me to get a knife I want. I am critical I expect and want better behavior from my favorite brand.

You

Again, I work tomorrow...
With my job, I don't have time to look through multiple websites. Like I said, if I could just go to one site for a quick reliable answer, it would make this experience much more enjoyable. I know I'm not the only one that feels this way.

Also, since I'm a returning ZT customer, if I bought through them, all my info would be saved as "returning customer" and it's as easy as one click to buy. Not so much for a dealer I might not have done business with.

If ZT announced that they were doing this sale at 8:00am tomorrow and I couldn't make it, then oh well. At least I knew. But not knowing anything until last minute is a complete let down.

Looks like you've taken business 101:thumbup:
Others here, not so much.

I think the whole "we're working on it" in regards to IT/network problems is goofy too. I contract IT/networking guys and know how they work, it dosent take months to figure out...

so, forumites first hated direct sales and whined about how unfair it was. Then they whined about how long it was taking to get the 0392 out. So, hearing this KAI decides to go ahead and release the 0392 instead of continuing to sit on a load of product. Now people are whining about going back to dealers, even though there are dozens of complaints about shopatron and "issues" for the 454 release. Sounds like no matter what as far as BFC is concerned anything ZT does in wrong....

Seems to me like ZT is doing a great job of creating a desirable product, being up front and honest about when and how it will be released (Even giving a list of dealers this time), as well as appeasing the dealers that were upset about the move to direct sales while at the same time re-evaluating and upgrading their IT infrastructure for future releases.

WTF more do you people want?!? keep in mind, forum members represent a small fraction of their consumer base....and people here just cant be satisfied. And here I thought BFC was getting better, boy was I wrong....

Im going to try to get a 392, if I get one great, if not oh well....why spend all this time freaking out, what good does it do? Want to boycott ZT?? Great, please do, more knives for the rest of us. Catch you in the green rooms....
