Soooooo, I'm not so sure that I'm actually going to get one. My order page shows "shipping soon" and everything was confirmed, but I'm seeing "official-ish" posts on the ZT Facebook that the knives were sold out in 4 minutes and that anything else was a "glitch in the backend". I ordered around 3 hours after the ordering opened... So yeah, I'm guessing I'll wake up to my order having been cancelled in the morning.

Oh well. I figured it was too good to be true.

Who posted that? And what is "official-ish"? I just looked and I didn't see anything like that.

It's on ZTs FB. I think the poster is there PR head or similar so it's probably reliable.

There's a lady named Susan that seems to be connected to the company in some way who posted it as a visitor message on their Facebook. I'm taking it with a grain of salt, just being realistic that I'm not going to end up with one.

That said, the money came out of my account, so that's a positive sign.

Never mind. I see that. She said there was a glitch on the back end, which was probably referring the fact that the site was getting bombarded and became extremely slow to load, meaning people were seeing knives available, but were unable to add to cart...it happened to me.

She didn't say anything about any orders being taken erroneously. If you guys got order confirmations, I would bet you get your knife.

PS - I run an online business for a living and used to be in the e-commerce website business...inventory controls are typically pretty rigid in terms of what the system will allow to be sold and what it will collect money on.

Seems she's their marketing manager. There is a post further down where she is doing a little give away of some merch to the person two could guess how fast the 0454s would sell out.

I guess we'll all see when the dust settles in the morning. I'm just not holding my breath much, but it will be a very very pleasant surprise if I do end up getting one after all.

And to think, I ALMOST pulled the trigger on a Zaan this morning... Right now that's Plan B. :D

If you look at the timestamp on that Facebook post, it was 13 minutes after the sale started. As of that time, all signs did indicate they were sold out within the first 4 minutes. As some of the carts expired (ie. people who added it to their cart, but did not check out within 15 minutes), they became available for purchase again, hence the fluctuating availability number. There was a brief glitch where the website wouldn't add to cart with inventory available, and that got sorted out after a few minutes. My guess is that if you completed your order (got through the checkout process and was assigned an order/confirmation number), then you should be all set.

I'm more concerned about the fact that since you go to Shopatron to check out when I did the item never disappeared from my cart on ZTs site. So when I opened the cart and deleted it the site said there was one for purchase but I have completed the checkout. I can see a very bad possible loop there...

Got my order in :D Almost didnt get one, thought the price had been increased to $575.....

Some one else had the same issue they called and we're told to call in the morning and they will refund the money as that is a mistake. Call Shopatron tomorrow.

I fell asleep last night, 20 minutes before these went on sale.

Damn work, making me all tired and stuff.

Wow, this is no good. I wonder how they will make this right.

As things are now there is no proof of anything to fix but yeah, if it was as big a problem as I susspect( and please note I don't know jack really) I hope they do something other than can the charge and say sorry.

My Wife ordered the knife at 9:03pm. She said the inventory was 260 when she got and in less than a minute it was down to 161. I went to my ZT acct this morning to check it out. It shows my order was confirmed at 10/1/2014 - 1:04:51 (UTC) and it's shipping soon. I don't know what UTC means but it seems they had to take a little extra time to sort it all out.

I already had all my ship to and billing info set up from an earlier buy. I think that helped speed things up for her.

Here's a little quote from Shopatron's website.

"Since supply is limited, it is best to place your order as soon as you can so we can find stock and get your items to you. Once we are sold out, we will take down the product from our website; however, there may be a slight chance that we don't get to it in time and we must cancel your order if we are sold out."

I think this means anybody that has been cancelled should know it already. Ecommerce moves pretty fast.

There is NO way it sold out in 4 minutes. That would have required *every* one of the first 272 people who added it to their cart to have completed the transaction in 4 minutes. Did not happen.

I easily believe that the first 272 went into *a* cart within 4 minutes. That may be the loose definition of "sold out" being referenced on the FB page.

It's quite impossible for them to sell out so quickly using this system where ANYBODY could reserve one for 15 minutes by adding it to their cart. The same person could probably continue to do this several times because you weren't even limited to a single 15 minute reservation -- that's why they were still popping up hours later. There were many people that couldn't make a decision, gather the funds, get permission, etc.. so they sat on them and there was this continuous rotating quantity until serious buyers were able to snatch them up before another squatter. I'm quite confident that everybody that got a confirmation email will receive their order.

If they all completed that's 4 min in my book even if it took everyone all 15in to check out. I think all the " pop up" stock that people, including myself , were reporting up to 3 hors later were phantoms due to an oversight in the system that were allowed to be carted is the issue, and then they were passes on to Shopatron for checkout.

It would have sold out in about that time without all of the tire-kickers putting it into their carts with no intention of buying it. At around 8PM last night there were more than 272 willing buyers for this knife...
