So to those of you who purchased, was this new direct sales method a success or not? Did it make it easier to purchase or harder? Or, is it too early to tell?
I think it's too early to tell
I agree, however it's nice not having to deal with preorders. I hate waiting a year or more for a knife, I've been waiting for the 0562cf since February!
Didn't BHQ have preorders for the 0454? They still have a listing on their site stating "coming soon" for it.
Talk about "late to the party"...

I have some bad news for you then. You are still going to have to wait months or even a year or more for a knife to come out. The only difference here is that the actual purchase is available through a single source. Nothing to do with wait times. Some stores make it a habit to try and jump on the bandwagon and offer certain things and take preorders on stuff that has not even been made available yet. It's happened with more than one shop. Not sure why that is, but it seems to frustrate folks more often than not.

I'm still waiting on my 620cf from Blade Hq pre-ordered in January. I cancelled my 562cf pre order after finding one on the exchange NIB for a lot less money! I'm done with pre-orders. I think this method ZT is doing is a great way to handle limited edition knives.
Finally got mine confirmed, but I called shopatron to have it pushed thru.
I don't understand what you mean.
