Yep not much point in beating this horse any more, you guys have a great day im going out to enjoy this nice sunny day wont be many more this is Oregon lol

Sunshine is overrated. I wake up every day begging for a few clouds.

Not sure if many people remember the zt 0780. A cool little ZT.
Some of the higher serial numbers were in the mid to high 300's.
It ended up only having around 200 pieces sold to the public.

My point is you will never know how many ended up being released and sold. The serial numbers do in fact lie in this case. They don't always tell the story.

I also agree with nwmetalbug that it doesn't mean there weren't some sold overseas as in KAI europe or however their distribution works overseas. Not talking about international sales from KAI USA that were clearly forbidden. The Blackwash 0777 mentioned earlier was a good example of this.

Regardless of number, its a limited ed. ZT that looks bad@$$ and those that got one should be more than happy with it.

Well if KAI is in fact sending limited editions to European dealers after they implemented their policy of in house sales for LE's only, then I think they were a bit misleading. I'm not a collector so I really could care less about exclusivity, I know it is an issue for some.

From what I have understood from KAI's communications about this so far is that:

1. 272 pieces of the 0454 were completed and available to the public.
2. 10 of the 272 were sold at the Blade show using a lottery system.
3. On September 30th, they sold the remaining 262 pieces to willing customers in the US and Canada.

It's entirely possible that there are blemished models and unserialized ones that weren't meant to hit the retail market. I'm going to try and inquire on the USN where Kerhshaw/ZT has an active presence to find out if all of the 0454's completed were sold only in North America.

This thread is getting weirder by the minute. Why all this speculation about Kai and limited editions...

In before the lock.

As I said not sure if they use dealers or how its done overseas so...that's not really misleading. Also weren't there some sold through a lottery at the usng also? You guys have your numbers way off, LoL!

Seriously though I fail to see what the big deal is. You got a limited LE ZT thats going to rock. Just be happy peeps!

From what I understand:

1. US/Canada sales are in house only. Do you think it would be possible for a US company to sell a knife to hundreds of individuals from overseas?? I think not. Therefore it is completely reasonable to assume that they sell to a distributor overseas to handle that portion of the sale.

2. 272 pieces were available for sale last Thursday. This does not include the 20 that were auctioned off at Blade and USN GVI. Right there that makes 292. If a couple hundred went overseas that would increase the number made. Add I the blems that didn't pass QC and the umber can grow significantly. We could see serial numbers in the 400 to 500 range. But .... no one knows for sure ... except ZT!!!

All of this .... of course... is just my opinion and should be taken with a grain of salt and skepticism !!!!!

I guess I was working under the assumption that the 0454 was only available in the US. I will chalk it up to a big misunderstanding then. I was originally posting in defense of KAI because I know there's usually a lot of drama surrounding the size of the runs for their LE's and I was hoping to reassure people that it was still going to be very small.

Back on topic: does anyone have any measurements as to thicknesses of the handle scales or blade stock? I don't think I've seen them anywhere yet.

Can't remember where, but I think I read 4mm blade thickness somewhere. Scales idk, I'm sure they're thick due to the lack of liners.

Sorry I missed this one. Maybe I'll get lucky with the 392. Congrats to all that were able to score one.

I have a 0454 0888 and 0777CB. The 0454 is nice but the 0777 with the composite blade is still my favorite.

I'm enjoying this thread. It's like sitting around the table talking all things 454. I need the therapeutic value of discussion.

Just a reminder what were waiting for.

This the question on the facebook.
" How many are being sold Zero Tolerance Knives-KAI USA Ltd."

Answer:
"***HINT*** There are 286 knives! "

This write in the facebook the KAI.

Just a thought.....It's possible to have some non-serialized and serialized knives that are produced that were never intended to hit the market.I tend to believe there are some VIP's and Company employees around the globe and in North America that may have such knifes in their private collections. That my best speculation and I think there may be more knifes than the public knows about.KAI does not release production numbers and the practices a "need to know basis" public policy for some time.We are all just speculating until we get a thread with a serial number sound off for the 0454.

What about the Illuminati?

On the whole serial number debate I will just say this EVERY KAI rep at BLADE show had the 392 in their pockets. So I asked them what other BA ZT's they had and they started bragging about the LE's they had most had not only an 888 but 888 Maxes and 777's and such in their collections. Heck I even tried to buy a 392 out of a reps pocket. There are probably quite a few LE's running around KAI's headquarters.
