Not sure of the 245 left in the world you realize they also sell them overseas too ?

As far as I can tell, the only way they would end up overseas is from the secondary market. ZT/Kershaw specifically mentioned in the rules that they would not be shipping them outside of the US and Canada. Only one run was made and they're all sold and on their way to people now.

When I first saw the prototype of this knife I earmarked it as a must-have.I remember when the tilt came out and how limited it was and watched the frenzy and thought it was over priced at the time.I remember all the hype when the 0560CBCF was released and how the speculators were in full effect snatching up the knives.ZT at this time (if my memory serves me correct)stopped releasing production numbers.Multiple batches were released and just about everyone had multiple shots to get one as the batches hit dealers.I think that if you wanted a 0562CBCF then you had multiple chances to land one at the time. This crushed the speculators and was beneficial to those of us who truly wanted to own and enjoy this knife. The 801CF was a cluster***K and you either had to know a dealer or be really crafty online and know the ropes to have acquired one.The new direct sales of LE seems to have streamlined the the process into a uni-source, but timing has become ultra critical or the boat will sail without you.I can't say that I am happy for paying full MSRP, but consider myself blessed to have landed one.The 0454 is ultra-limited and should hold it's value with time. You just never know what curves life will throw at you and some may need to sell some materialistic items if a life changing event ever happens. To say that you would never sell a knife that just sits there as a collector/unused new in box would be a half-truth in my eyes.I have never paid MSRP for any of my ZT LE up until the 0454 and can't say that I am tickled pink coughing up the dough knowing what I historically paid for my other LE ZT's.I am glad that some that otherwise would have not acquired the knife actually got one and will experience to joy that I have enjoyed from the ZT LE's that I own.I have never sold any of the LE ZT's that I purchased. I only have one of each model that I chose to chase down and acquire.
Best,
salmonkiller

So very very wrong... but I still LOL'd. :)
I am sure a certain passionate ex moderator of the sub-forum formerly know as Kai/ Kershaw will blow his lid when he reads that post.Back on topic.....May bee we should start a thread with a serial number check in to try to get an idea how many 0454's were actually produced when those that scored them actually land them......

That was for the North American LE sale, Not wholesale/distributors for over seas. They could have sold some there too only way to know is if they show up there will wait and see.

They would not be shipping them overseas from the Tuesday sale. Correct. Doesn't mean that some didn't go over to dealers. Shocking I know, but ZT is a worldwide brand that also does business overseas.

Are you saying that ZT is going to be sending some of their limited edition knives to dealers as well? Because they explicitly said that they were only going to be available directly from them, the manufacturer.

I'm just across town from Tualatin and mine will arrive Monday. There were 272 for the Tuesday sale but they sold 10 at Blade so that makes 282 total? And from what I have read there should not be any sold overseas.

I have no clue how their distribution works in the US much less abroad. I would guess they have dealers and distributors overseas to sell their goods. I just didn't see where it said this was a US only item other than the Tuesday sale. I could be wrong, happens all the time.

If dealers get them, it will be as individuals. They could then very well turn around and sell the pieces on their site for whatever they want. Not unheard of or an impossibility.

Well how many 0777BW did we see here in the states? They went over seas so if you think they didnt send some 0454's I think you are in for a surprise.

I think there were actually 272 total, with 262 sold at the Tuesday sale, but I'm not 100% sure. The first number available I saw in the continuous refresh waiting for the sale to start was 262, IIRC.

I'm guessing they made 300 of them, a nice round number. 10 went at the Blade show. 272 went to the frenzy. Then I figure the had 18 to pass around the office and to some special "friends".

If a serial number over 282 shows up then we'll know more were made.

Just a guess

Yep even that wont tell the whole story since some never leave the factory but the serial number doesnt get reused if it doesnt pass QC. Not really sure that it matters it doesnt change the fact its a very cool knife.

I was just about to use that exact example. We will never know how many because they don't release final numbers anymore.

My Wife always Punks me by saying when a LE goes on sale I always get the last one made with the parts they swept up off the floor to make.

She loves me :)

Just a thought.....It's possible to have some non-serialized and serialized knives that are produced that were never intended to hit the market.I tend to believe there are some VIP's and Company employees around the globe and in North America that may have such knifes in their private collections. That my best speculation and I think there may be more knifes than the public knows about.KAI does not release production numbers and the practices a "need to know basis" public policy for some time.We are all just speculating until we get a thread with a serial number sound off for the 0454.

Yep not much point in beating this horse any more, you guys have a great day im going out to enjoy this nice sunny day wont be many more this is Oregon lol
