They'd be trying to pop the carter pins out of a string of insulators for the conductors...srsly

PG, thats good to know. I carry my zt550 at work and it holds up well.

Then they'd have to spring for their own tools srsly. I work with a paid of people like that and if they don't bring their own stuff they don't get paid and simply sit on their duff for free.

Monday. What the? Probably shouldn't complain  But Tualitin is only a two hour drive. Looking forward to checking this baby out! Oh and Signature required. Maybe I'll just drive ten minutes to the UPS distribution center before it goes out on Monday so I don't have to wait for the brown van in a two hour window.

I hear Carbon Fiber, Composite Blades and welds are not strong enough?

I give you the Boeing 787 aircraft (composites including CF), GE Genx jet engines (fan blades made of CF with leading edge Ti) and Saturn V F-1 rocket engine (incredible welds).

I want a user so you can bet I'll be buying a (couple?) more on top of the the online offering. ;)

Mine doesn't arrive until Friday, so I'll expect others to be posting pictures of theirs before that!

I wonder what kind of warranty service Zt provides on their limited stuff....surely they don't stock replacement parts like scales and blades and stuff

Not much. I have a ZT 0700BLK which was a limited edition that I used the hell out of. It started developing huge blade play and other big issues. I also broke the tip (my fault) -- but they just re-ground the break out of it even though I wanted to pay for a new blade. They didn't have any extras to replace it with, so they ground a new tip into it, but I lost a lot of the length of the blade. It just sits in a box now. The knife came back in similar condition but with a newly ground blade. I called them about it and they pretty much told me "too bad" and offered me a 20% off coupon for any knife from their website (which would still cost more than just purchasing from a dealer because they are at MSRP). I wouldn't purchase any limited ZT runs if you plan to use it...it's not worth it.

For what it's worth, Spyderco has similar issues with not being able to provide hardware for some models and things like that.

They typically provide full retail value in current stock, as mentioned earlier, on any model that is no longer available, not can be repaired...assuming the issue is a defect or failure, not overt abuse.

Seems like a success for most people and ZT, with some glitches, that I bet they fix for the next round. Those that were successful will like the process, those that got caught by the glitches probably won't, nothing new there. Overall I think for the average guys their chances are much better this way than in the past, but at the price of paying full MSRP, which obviously the market is more than willing to pay.

I'm interested to see how many show up for sale in the next week and if secondary market prices on the 0454's stay closer to MSRP, or if selling at MSRP just raised the starting price for the typical ~100% markup. If they push $1000 I expect we'll see even greater demand in the future, especially since I believe the 0392 is going to have MUCH higher demand than the 0454 ever dreamed of, depending on the numbers released. Even if you can only get one, at 100% markup, it's a quick way to make a few hundred dollars, between that motivation and the people that actually want to collect/use the knife, demand will skyrocket for future releases.

I don't think the 0392 is going to be that limited like the 0777,0888,0454 but that is just guessing. The 0392 looks very plain and easy to manufacture vs the other limiteds.

I think the price of the 0454 will get crazy, there are only 272 of them. One of the owners already said in a previous post his going to beat the crap out of it, then you can guess maybe 10% or more get damaged leaving about 245 in the world.

Compare that with the number of people that would be interested in owning this knife. Knife fanatics on ig has 211k followers. If only 20% are interested that makes 42k potential buyers. So just one group of buyers @ 42k vs only 245-272 knives available. Some guys like me wont sale a knife they like just for profit. so the number is even lower. I see no problem with these getting way over $1000. That's just my guess though

I read and heard there were 272 made, what does selling them overseas has anything to do with how many are made. Are you saying there are more than that made?

Some of these will get damaged, lost or destroyed. No way of guessing how many.

There were going to be 272 AVAILABLE to north america they didnt say how many were made. They make stuff available for over seas markets we dont even hear about unless someone happens to post them up somewhere. I dont know for sure I dont work for KAI but my guess is they probably sold some over seas.
