This is the newsletter that I received and it clearly states that 272 will be available. It does not say how many total will be produced.

There will be 272 of these ZT Limited Edition 0454s available.

Sale starts 9/30/2014 at 6 pm PST.

Right but it does not say available for this sale or available on the 30th. There is a clear separation between the statement regarding the number that will be available and the statement regarding the sale date. In fact it states that production has been completed. Not started, etc. 300 were made, 28 went into blems/gifts/in/house museum, etc. 272 will be available to the public. Sale starts at the given date/time.
At this point it is much more improbable to assume there will be more produced and sold than to accept that that was that. Couple that with the new policy of LEs having paperwork and being sold through the manufacturer only and we may be looking at true limited editions here. And to round things off - when was the last time they actually gave a number for any of their limited editions? Doesn't that say commitment? 272 guys, that and the ones from Blade. That's all she wrote.

It's amazing that people here think that a knife designed by a popular RUSSIAN knife maker has ZERO knives shipped to his home, also knife addicted, country...

First line: "On Sale Sept. 30th"
Last line: "There will be 272 of these ZT Limited Edition 0454s available."

Since that message was about the sale of the 0454s, I interpreted the contents of that message in that context.

Regardless, it has been well established that more than 272 of these exist in the world. Retroactively analyzing the word choice and spacing between lines of text in the newsletter e-mail isn't going to change that. If you felt the message was unclear, you might consider e-mailing KAI to offer suggestions for improvement.

Sorry, how has it been well established that more than 272/280 exist?

Wrong!

The factual information is available on another forum. Enough said!

The specimen that I own is remarkable and under magnification it has very high quality fit and finish. It locks up very close to 50% and flips smoothly with authority. It's an expensive knife by my standards and I am glad I took the plunge. This knife is light and the ergo's are good for me.There is a little hot spot that forms in my palm from the pocket clip. The pocket clip is super snug while in the pocket(more than I am used to)and the clip is seems super strong.I tend to have a fondness for larger folders and this knife is probably the lightest 4 inch knife I own.The jimping on the backspacer is perfect and adds to the look of the knife. This jimping on the spine is very aggressive by my standards. The knife screams to be carried more than any other ZT LE that I own.I think the design on this one is right up my alley and ZT's execution is excellent. This is another fine example of the LE that ZT puts out.The 0454 is a kick ass mid-tech in my eyes.......

I am actually wondering why everyone is incessantly quoting and wondering just how many were made, as if it had some bearing on their lives or something. Every other post is "Well, 272 were made, but..." or "I wonder if any went to...", it's like a bunch of OCD/ADHD kids all freaking out in the same place all at once. I mean, who cares how many were made, really?

Which forum is that? Do I need to dust off my mall ninja--er, USN I mean--login to see that secret info or is it somewhere else?

It really is a kick-ass mid-tech. The light weight and narrow width makes it a great EDC. I "need" a second for spare parts. :)

I'm wondering the same thing. The 0454 is incredible. I don't care if it were a production knife instead of LE. More 0454 porn!

I'd Pm you, but I'm not a paying member. The first rule of the "other" forum is not mentioning it elsewhere.

I see people mentioning that forum all the time in all sorts of contexts. Any "fight club" secrecy it had is long gone.
