Any photos of them cutting anything?
Zip ties, boxes, rope, cordage, food, work related etc.

I carried mine to work today, cut some window vinyls up. I'll be using this bad boy a lot. I carry a leatherman if I need to abuse a blade, so my 0454 will be used for general cutting tasks.

Cut some cardboard and also stabbed a tree a few times to see if it would develop any play...nope!

Also, here's a size comparison pic. I know some of you guys like that, so I chose some very common knives to compare it to.

Still shows as 500 US and 575 CAN for me

They are on the Exchange now for $900 and $1000. Fruitpickers... not sure what I mean by that...
:)

But if $500 is too much for my blood, then so is twice that amount...
Looks like eBay all over again on the Exchange.

^Nice! Does the blade scratch easily doing light duty such as this?

Compared to a DLC coating? Yes; there are some small hairline scratches that weren't there when I received it (Tuesday). From what I've read, the CPM-D2 portions are etched, so they will scratch much easier than a DLC coat.

I'm not planning on selling it; I'm planning on using it, so scratches don't bother me. YMMV.

The black portion of the blades are only etched (think patina), there is no DLC type coating on it.

Secondary market pricing on these should come down. ZT shipped about 272 between last Friday and this past Monday. That's a lot of limited edition in such short order. By tomorrow many on the East coast would receive theirs. Quite a few should show up for sale this weekend in various places. Prior to the shipment of the 272 the ZT 0454 was going for $1,000-$1,250.

Hopefully!

Has ZT ever done other runs of "less than 300", or is the 0454 the first? This is my first ZTLE, so I don't know. If its the first, then I would expect them to stay around $1,000-$1,250 or more! Especially since the 0777 usually is about $1,000.

I easily see this knife staying above $1000 after 6 - 12 months from now, once the dust settles after all the changing of hands occurs after the initial shipment. People who want to flip will flip and eventually, over time, they will all find homes in the hands of owners who want to keep them, so the very few that continue to appear in the 2nd hand market will defiantly fetch a premium. This has been the case with the 777 and 888, which i think are the closest comparable knives to the 0454.

Don't take RZ's comment to mean that less than 300 were built, because that would not be true. No one knows how many were made but rest assured its more than 300 :)

I don't see them dropping...quite the opposite. These are badass.

Also, if you scratch the patina just dip it in a glass of vinegar for an hour and te sharpen it. :)

I think there's a window of a couple of weeks where the secondary prices will be lowest and that's when the flood of them start hitting the market starting this weekend.

"272" were able for sale on Sep. 30th. More than that were made. Nobody knows exactly how many.

Seeing some serial #'s over 400 I believe they made 500. I'll bet there will be a world wide roll out in the near future.
Just a guess though

WOW

I just got the package. First, the box and pouch are awesome. No idea why the box needs to be that big, but I like it.

I got #260 and it is perfect. I. So impressed with everything on the knife. The flipping action and sound are phenomenal. I can't get over the sound. I'll post some pics later after dinner.

My guess is that the price will level off, like a lot of other ZT limited editions. Simply because the people that really want them usually pay the most during the initial release. Not to mention that ZT seems to keep coming out with new, equally desirable limited editions and new models.

Very likely, as the recent web sale was US/Canada only. Also #s are usually given prior to QC, so they are in no way an indication of the number of completed sell-able units available.

Worldwide roll-out has already happened, I think. Pretty sure we were the last roll-out here in North America for the 0454s.
