I don't think these have super tight detents, rather it might be the way the knife is designed. You might need to be meticulous and adjust your grip accordingly.

I agree. My wife was having a little trouble at first. Then she noticed that she was squeezing the lockbar when she triggered the flipper. Once she moved off of it she had it flying open.

I have to say the knife we received is absolutely perfect. All the pictures that I've seen didn't do it justice. The CF is a special scale material. The Ti accents are rock solid. Love This Knife!!

Thanks to everybody that has posted a photo. I've really enjoyed seeing them as they arrived throughout the week. :)

Well, looks like I won't be getting mine 'til Monday. UPS must've attempted to deliver before 2:30 today and overlooked updating the status.

How did you order a custom one? I sent him and shirogorov an email trying to get customs but got no answer. It seems it's really hard to get a hold of these guys

I picked it up from a friend of mine that was local. This was a couple years ago before I was really big into custom. I traded him for it, and ended up trading back a week later because it was to nice to carry. I really regret doing that now obviously, but I didn't really know much better back than. You hardly see them on the secondary market, but when you do, they're about 5x what I had traded for.

# 407 has finally arrived. That carbon fiber is incredible, smooth as silk. I do not find the detent to be strong at all, it's certainly not weak, but I wouldn't call it strong.

Got mine today. It is perfect. It will make a wonderful gift for my brother on his wedding day next month.

I've owned 2 of these beauties. The first one serial 046
had a super strong detent. My newest serial 358 has a much lighter detent but still flies open. But it is definitely noticeable.

So after all the heartbreak from this whole ordeal (due in large part to my own error), my brother dropped a hell of a surprise on me. I loaned him some money a few years ago and he's finally in a position to pay me back. He knew I was eyeing this guy and somehow he managed to snag one for me! While he disagrees with spending $500 on a knife, I couldn't think of a better way to be repaid for loaning him that money!

Serial # 239 is in my possession and boy does she flip like a beauty!

Mine has a very weak detent, but I really like this knife a lot more than I was expecting to.

It's kind of funny seeing guys go apeshit over a cpm d2 blade on bearings with a carbon fiber scale on titanium. I know it's a good looking knife but holy cow, you can buy an absolutely stunning custom folder with something like a stellite 6k blade on bearings with some beautiful, fairly exotic handle materials the price of this knife. To each his own, but for a collector's piece, this one falls short. For a high performance piece, this one falls short. For a hard use piece, this one falls short. I'm at a loss as to why so many people are tripping over themselves for this specific knife. And I'm a ZT fan, so what's that say?

Just got mine SN# 201. Love the knife of course but the detent is ridiculously tight on mine. And I do know not to push in on the lock bar when opening. Anyone else have this issue? It honestly took me more than five attempts to get it to open. I was on my way to get my torx bits, because I thought it might have been overtightened for shipping, when it finally shot open like a freakin rocket. I hope this loosens up because I want so bad to carry this blade.
After further inspection and a few hundred, if not thousands, of flips open and close I realized that my specific knife's detent was overly tight to a flaw. I gave up on it self adjusting and knocked the burr off of the detent hole myself. After waiting 10 days to get this bad boy I wasn't gonna dare be 454less for another couple of weeks by sending it back to be fixed. I'm not going to be selling this knife so I had no issue with fixing the issue myself. Now I have that 454 that I was after. I love it and its definitely gonna be in my pocket waiting for any chance to be used haha.
In my disassembly of the knife I held and flipped it while the pocket clip was removed. Boy, it felt truly perfect that way. I've never carried a folder in a sheath attached to my belt, and honestly have always thought it to be a little ridiculous. I mean that's what fixed blades are for and why folders have pocket clips, right? But damn, after feeling my 454 without the clip this might be an idea that I entertain if I ever see a reasonably priced leather sheath for it. I also wondered why ZT didn't make the clip multi positional for lefties but once I removed the clip I understood why. The clip, where it is positioned, covers up several screws and holes and such that are used to secure the sub frame lock. IMO the knife felt so good without the clip attached I would have no qualms with the screws and holes showing. Afterall I'm going to be using it as a tool. I understand that the collector doesn't really want his knife to be showing a handle full of screws.
