Any one else had there 0562CF M390 blade crack on the spine over the thumb stud? Going to have to send it in for warranty hope they fix it for free. Its my favorite EDC!

Must have happened when the thumbstud was inserted - the tolerances were a bit off.

Wow! First time I've seen that!
They'll definitely hook you right up!

They're not really thumbstuds — they're stop posts that hit the frame to set the blade's outer travel limit. When the blade is launched with the flipper, these are what stop the rotation.

I have no doubt that ZT will warranty this, but... possible that this could be caused by the impact from being flipped open? That's probably where I'd expect to see a crack form from impact force on the stop posts.

I'd say it's a defect either way, but if it's due to impact, I wonder if more of them also fail this way, in the same spot.

Looks like you're not alone...

Thanks guys. Ill let you know what the outcome is shipping out tomorrow.

It happened a lot with the 0560 model. I had it happen to a regular 0560 and to a 0560CBCF. Sent both in and they were repaired free of charge with return shipping paid for. The W/R manager said sometimes when they cut the hole for the stop pin it's just the tiniest bit undersized which leads to the cracking. It's either deal with it when it comes up or possibly have some slop with th stop pin. It's a "shit happens' kind of thing with that design.

This is the number three thing we send knives back to manufacturers for. Not just ZT but all knives that have a thumbstud through the blade. It is not super common as it usually gets caught before being sent and then secondly by the dealer. It is rare to see one make it to the customer but it does happen. I feel confident ZT will jump all over this for you. Keep us updated!

I would hazard a guess and say there is no way flipping your knife will cause that.
Left the factory in that shape.......definitely!
Please let us know how it works out......

Happened to my 0550 last year however it was due to me chopping some 500mcm electrical wire against a pallet really, really hard. I actually heard the steel crack after a good number of whacks. Totally my fault, but warranty fixed it up.

I wondered at first if the Elmax blade on the normal 0562 would be less likely to do this because Elmax had a higher toughness than most stainless. Then I saw posted above that this was common on the original 0560's also, which as I recall also had Elmax blades so my theory was debunked before I could propose it, lol

I don't know how or when this happened. Could only see it in certain light. This is my favorite EDC. Used but not abused.

Top notch service, but it's KAI USA so I'm not surprised at all. With the amount of abuse I exposed my knives to, it's a miracle I haven't been blacklisted by them yet, or even better, send in a ZT for repair and get back a Benchmade with a letter telling me to give them a try.
